If you can safely reject sure if you want to say anything. Keep it short and simple.

No need to apologise

Block and delete is fine too

"This isn't working out for me. Take care." Then delete and block.

If you're not comfortable with saying something, you can just delete and block.

You know how I reject a guy who approaches me? I straight up say “I’m not interested” and walk away fast before he can even ask me for my name. Works wonders and they never get angry because they appreciate the directness. I don’t give them an explanation or explain why I’m not interested, because then they’d try to negotiate and change my mind. I don’t care if I come off as “rude”, I’m just breaking out of female socialization. But maybe I’m just lucky, since all of these instances occurred in a public crowded space like shopping malls. It might be a different story if you and him are isolated, so in that case take great caution and reject when you feel it’s safe.

Don't waste so much energy on rejection. Just say "I don't think it is going to work out" or "I dont think we are a match". Then block and delete. A lot of the time you will end up getting a whole essay back, so it is better to just do a preventive block. There is no reason to listen to a guy going off on you because you rejected. Keep it short. Do not wait for a reply.

I prefer to give this courtesy, UNLESS, dude was an outright perv or started being creepy.

If I’ve been seeing a guy for less than a month, I block their number before sending my rejection text so I don’t have to see any threats or repeated calls. Your text will still go through but you won’t be able to get any texts or calls from them in return.

I’ve tried to end things with guys I barely know in person or over the phone and it’s never pretty.

People get blocked and ghosted all the time. You don’t owe this guy anything. He’ll forget you with time.

Two scenarios.

First: He is a normal person, you just aren't a match. You've been out a few times, but nothing substantial. He hasn't been rude or disrespectful to you or anyone in front of you. I approach this with the goals in mind of, if I ever run into this person again I want to be proud of how I handle it. And two, I am delivering bad news, but I don't want to make it hurt anymore than it should. I don't want to provide details on why I'm ending things or make him think there's anything wrong with him. We're just not a match. Text is appropriate:

Example: "Hey X, I've really enjoyed getting to know you the past few months. I love that you're into [X Hobby] and have really enjoyed our dates. I've given it some thought and decided that this isn't a match for me. I really wish you the best."

If he asks follow up questions, you're not obligated to entertain them. These things are subjective and personal. The reason you're rejecting him would not be useful to him because it says more about you and your values.

Second scenario: Someone was rude to you or someone else and made you feel uncomfortable. You have a few options. You could just block and ghost, or send a one liner, and then block him on every platform you know of. You don't owe these people anything.

Irl: I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t even entertain their nonsense and just walk away and not say anything. You can just say no or no thanks and don’t give explanation. Walk away, you don’t owe him shit.
