I have tried Tinder, but it's really just scammers, men with dead fish and/or beards like Grizzly Adams, or dudes who message in monosyllables. Met one good guy, but I am just not that into him & he keeps asking to make me dinner. I told him early on I don't go to the houses of men I barely know, but he persists. He's nice, our politics mesh, he can hold a conversation, but I just don't get excited about him. Inexplicable.

I tried Bumble, but you have to keep checking the app because matches expire & that feels too much like sitting by the phone waiting for it to ring. Pass.

Match was so, so bad. Absolutely no one in my area that was remotely of interest. There are over a million people in my metro & evidently none of them use Match.

OK Cupid I don't really get how it works? Maybe I am too old for that one?

Hinge shows me the same people over and over, and if I like someone's picture, I get a message indicating they are not who they say they are (is everyone on Hinge temporarily working on an oil rig or a military contractor in the middle east on secret assignment?).

I signed up for the free version of eharmony yesterday. Received several messages, all of them hundreds of miles away from me.

Should I pay for the eharmony upgrade and give OLD one last try? Or just throw in the towel on this nonsense? I don't need a partner, but it would be nice to have a companion. I am just not willing to chase random strangers across the internet to acquire one. And I am not going to compromise my standards and end up with another LVM. Our area is opening back up as the plague abates, maybe I will find a gentleman in the wild? Or just plan on packing up with my girl gang and moving to a tropical island with decent wifi, a yarn shop, quality Italian food, and some cuddly pets after my kids leave home?

Looking forward to your advice, suggestions, & stories!
