I have no ill will to any of my exes, even the ones who did harsh things to me. I don’t need updates on their lives, after a relationship I always block and unfriend etc. There is no point in keeping an ex around, they will always be your ex.
I’d be weary of a man that keeps exes as friends, even if its just to give updates to each other. Why do you need to? What is so important in your life that you need to keep an ex updated on? You should focus on your new life and new partner if you have one.
Parting ways doesn’t have to be hard, it can be amicable. It’s just for the best, and if you two are chill with each other then it should be understandable. Leave the past in the past.

I think you're an insecure ass male that enjoys the idea of making potential girlfriends jealous with the fact you keep your ex's on the side as 'friends'
Absolutely no high value woman is looking to settle down with a man who keeps his ex's as 'close friends'. She wasn't born yday.
Why are you so dependant on attention from women you are no longer dating? Why do you NEED attention from them? Is it because you're insecure?

Yes, the official stance is in the handbook which I'd encourage you to check out.
You do not stay friends with exes. There is no good reason to. We do not consider dating any man who is "friends" with his exes, it is unacceptable and disrespectful behavior. This doesn't mean he should hate his exes, but that he is respectfully no contact and has completely cut the cord and moved on in his life. Get some new friends you have never had sex with.

Yep. They’re just keeping them around as a backup IMO or a potential hookup.

LOL there is a clear incentive for MEN to keep ex's at friends......and that is the POTENTIAL of sex when things dry up for them because women always have access to sex and men don't. They want to keep them as eggs in their basket....and when they feel lonely or need attention..... hit them up about the 'good old times'
I don't keep any ex's as 'close friends' for this reason
I have a couple high value ex's that I can talk to casually on rare occasions.........only because I wasn't that wrapped up with them emotionally and we broke up years ago or dated when we were younger. I don't tell them much about myself and its kept pretty platonic. If I got into a relationship again, I wouldn't bother messaging them because its not that deep for me to ignore some ex from 6years ago.
Yeah its nice to stay in touch but I don't want to hear much from them really bc I'm over it.
But friends? With people you had deep feeling for? No I don't want to be friends with men I dumped...because its opening up an old chapter I closed.
I would take it as a red flag if a man was in regular touch with his ex's....it makes you look phoney imo. We know who you are going to run to if we have relationship problems. I wouldn't feel comfortable dating a man who regularly updates his ex's on his life, because it seems like he has trouble detaching. Looks like you're keeping eggs in your basket out of insecurity in case you get dumped/ need attention

Yeah, no. If I'm with someone who talks about his ex he's still in contact with like this, I'm going to be thinking "HM! She sounds like a really smart woman and she ...chose not to be with him. I wonder what she knows that I don't! I trust another woman's judgement."
Also, how would YOU feel if your girl said "OH, I want to keep being friends with my ex because blah blah lists off a ton of traits and accomplishments that make you look like a bump on a log in comparison
Basically, at FDS, we want a man who has eyes for us only, not who is wasting time typing out all the amazing traits his ex has, congrats to her.
It makes you seem like you have a lack mentality as well. There are a lot of great people you can be friends with in the world who will support you and have great traits who will never have had your dick inside of them.
Sure she supported you etc, but that was because she was in a relaitionship with you at the time. She is not going to be doing that now. And when she gets an awesome guy in her life and there's you going "yeyyyyy!!😊😊😊" in the background, he will likely laugh at you and wonder why you haven't moved on. It's just not a good look all around. Please, have some personal dignity.
It also seems you think that a man and a woman are interchangeable friends. What a lovely, idealistic, fantasy world you live in! We prefer real life at FDS.
Newsflash, you don't get to hold onto things in life. No matter how good they were to you, or how much they helped you or whatever, everyone will die one day. Everything you have will go. It seems really juvenile and naive when men hold onto their exes. I don't admire it at all.

Black and white thinking. I'm not saying trash your ex to me so I know you're over her. I'm saying, you talk about her like you still have a thing for her. Also, a good man is hard to find, even if we had different career paths, if he was worth it, I'd find a way to make it work and I hope he would too. This just makes you seem lazy.

Men and women cannot be "just friends". It's also naive to assume that just because you feel completely platonic towards someone else, that they also feel that way towards you. This guy is a red pill clown, but this article is very accurate: https://therationalmale.com/2011/11/30/intergender-friendship/

LOL look at the reasoning here! I see, so if she moved back, it would be different. You are not over her and lying to yourself.
Congrats that you (think) you can close the chapter on romance and just move into friendship so that's why you're fine with it. Have you thought about the other person? Have you put any consideration in this "friend" of yours? Maybe they still have feelings? Maybe they will have issues in their relationship because of you? Are you really being a "friend" then? Typical, selfish.

Yeah, you're a giant soy boy. Probably an SJW too. You'd be better off with the crowd over at the dating over thirty subreddit who like to believe in fairy tales as well lol. Good luck!
