I have a some general questions concerning my 5x5 routine. I have been going to the gym doing general isolation exercises for about a year and a half. Decided to try and bulk up and focus more on strength so I abandoned isolation based works outs and started focusing on 5x5 in the beginning of November. I’m still adding 5# per week and I haven’t plateaued yet. I’m mid 40’s and exercise solo (no spotter).

I’m 5’10, 192#. Bench 185#, DL 275#, Back Squat 250#, Row 160#, OP 140#, Clean (added 2 weeks ago) 135#

  1. I’ve been doing 5 sets of 5 reps for each of the five exercises. Is this the correct count? It’s not crystal clear to me if it’s 5 reps total or 25 reps total, so I choose to do 25 reps per exercise with 2 min breaks.
  2. I have shorter legs/longer torso & arms and my deadlift weight is higher than my squat weight. Is this a expected and/or just indicative of my physiology?
  3. Should I rotate back squat and front squat on a monthly basis?
  4. Are online coaches effective and worth the cost? I’m think about the value of someone looking over my form and progress.
