So tonight the wife is busy taking down all the Christmas crap - I helped get the tree out the door and cleaning up the mess that made. She finishes up packing up the boxes with all the crap and this is how the conversation goes:

Me: I'll take those boxes of heavy crap downstairs for you.

Her: no it's ok, I'll do it. It has to be done a certain way.

Me: ok, but I could still put it downstairs.

Her: no it's ok I'll do it.

Me: Ok.

...little while later ...

She makes a big show of taking the crap downstairs, clearly pissed I'm not helping. Then goes to the kitchen and starts banging crap around.

Me: Do you need help with anything?

Her: Not anymore. You fucking sat there while I took the crap downstairs and did nothing.

Me: You mean all the heavy crap I told you I'd take down and you told me not to?

Her: Yes, that crap. I shouldn't have to ask you, you should just get up and do it.

Me: You didn't ask me, I offered and you said no.

THEN I STFU

She storms around for a bit - doing this and that - and then goes to bed, clearly still pissed.

Should I have handled this differently??
