Our last couple's counseling session ended with our therapist quitting after my wife kept interrupting and attacking both me and the therapist (a self-described feminist). It was a bitter sweet feeling, because I knew that with the departure of this therapist (our third one), any path to reconciliation evaporated. I've come to realize that my wife and mother of my child has NPD (narcissistic personality disorder). Divorce is looming over my head and I've been preparing for the past year. She has engaged in physical violence against me (nothing serious) and in the presence of our daughter. Once I file papers - she will immediately go scorched earth.

I did the work. I leveled up and applied dread, only to be met with increased scrutiny, paranoia and anger. There will never be a main event, because the NPD woman is psychologically incapable of capitulating to the new reality. If it means not accepting any fault and maintaining her sense of superiority, losing her husband and nuking the family are worth it.

She sincerely believes that a new backyard patio and hot tub are going to make her mental state, and therefore everything else better. This is her current headspace. I've been down this road and I'm fucken tired of it. There is no Red Pilled redemption arc that involves this woman - all I can do is further antagonize my child's hostage taker. Would this be the point where I put the RP text books down and go divorce monk mode?
