Family friend will be visiting. I am charged with driving down to pick her up and bringing her to town (NOT my residence, other side of town). I'm seeking advice/walk through for escalating in the car.

A simple polarity test - test the waters, if everything goes well, maintain your frame and escalate. If it doesn't, lean back a bit. Maybe you even want to drive a little slower.

I'm guessing you can't smash at your place seeing that you need to consider the car as a real option. I've been here many times.

This is a woman you haven't seen I'm guessing for a very long time, and gauging from what you've said I don't think you've interacted a lot recently to begin with. This means you're starting from scratch at level zero.

As a result of this you need to establish some form of rapport or comfort beforehand. Do your homework: find cool places you can go to that's around the pick up point where you can interact with her.
