Be less boring
Call her on the phone to banter a few minutes, set the date and get off phone. With a purely text setup she has zero emotional investment and you don't really exist. Letting her hear a voice and humanizing yourself = you exist slightly more to her than the text-only guys that don't have the balls. Often that slight edge is enough to win.
The answer to any question "Why..." when it comes to online dating, is it doesn't matter why.

What do you guys think? Part of the game or not going about it properly? Texting like this has worked in the past but seems high flake and lots of lost interest.

That's the nature of the beast.

There are a lot of tweaks that will get slightly better results for a lot more time/effort/money, but the real hack with online dating is to lower your expectations.

Tinder is just Candy Crush for chicks. If she's sufficiently attractive, she gets more interest than she knows what to deal with. She's paralyzed by choice.

Offline should be your bread and butter, and online should be the optional dessert.
