If your mom is not a cluster B, stay with her. You can save tons of money from your side. Don't bother with this crap till you have your life sorted out. You can see all the successful guys, they do start enjoying after 30, being a home owner, sometimes mortgage free.

There is a reason for that: they invested all their times for their career, business and body.

How do you plan on only spending $800/month when your rent will be $550? You'd have to eat scarcely and live like a hermit. Maybe it's possible, but there's no way I could have a "booming social life" on that kind of money.

If you can live rent free and you get along with your mum, why move out? She probably enjoys the company (trust me, time will fly and you’ll miss those days with your mum) and you can focus on getting settled and even more financially secure... wait until this whole COVID thing blows over and future seems a little more secure. My two cents.

I can 100% get a full time job in the city I’m moving to, I’m studying programming on my own, and will Goto the college there (have scholarship money, full ride) to get a degree in mobile development.

No car so I don’t have any other monthly payments except rent, my phone and food.

I’ll make $2k/m and spend $800/m

So what exactly are you doing here??? Are you needing to move away for school or are you just wanting to blast off the launch pad of Mom & Dad without any destination in mind and nothing lined up?? Until you have a solid plan with things actually happening you should stay home. $20k sounds like a lot of money but it'll go quick once you're on your own and life starts happening to you. No car either? Public transportation must be really good where you are, or you live in Europe where everything is within walking distance.

Reading the comments, kind of sad. YES, you absolutely should move out. It's called being a man.

All the comments of people saying "do it to save money," are majority baby boys who don't have the balls to live on their own and hold their own financially and emotionally. In fact, most of those people who stay home live off of that excuse "I'm saving money," when in reality they end up living like they don't have a mortgage/rent--because they don't.

Bringing a girl back to your mom's? HAHAHAHA. No.

Moving out, living on your own, will be the absolute best thing for you. I don't consider any guy a MAN, until he knows what it's like to live alone by himself, holding his own. No roommates either--that shit is also weak in my opinion and most people don't do it to save money, they do it because they can't be alone.

Dude, we have to break the stigma about living home with parents. I just made a video about this but i’ll just elaborate here. I’m 21 and still live at home with my mom. My dad has a new wife and they both even told me to not move out. I make $50k a year so if I save all of that (I help my mom out with rent) i’ll be able to save majority of my income.

Most of my friends that have moved out already are struggling in the name of “independence.” Some of them live with their girlfriends or roommates then have the nerve to say that they are “living on their own.” Would you rather live with random strangers or a girl who may figure out that she’s not into you one day? In my opinion, I’d rather stay at home until I hit my savings goal because when I’m 25 with a house, paid off car and established career, most of my friends will likely still be renting, going through expensive life changes and other shit that could have been avoided if they would have just put their pride aside.

Stay home. Save your money so you can enjoy your late 20s and 30s.

It might be hard but hard times foster growth. You don't want to be one of those guys living at home at 35 whose only options are the nearest hambeast single mom who have so little going for them you seem like a good option. Comfort never ever helps a man grow. It's also a turn off to women not to have your own place. Better to live in a dump independently than be stuck in parent's palace.
