I've been in an LTR for 2 years now. Had given thought to getting engaged, so we moved in together. Month to month lease, no shared assets or accounts. Got into TRP Jan 2014, life has improved in and out of the relationship.

I'm a volunteer fireman and am big on emergency preparedness and prepping. (side note: everyone should have the basics in place). When we got serious, I made sure we had each others emergency contacts, I taught her First Aid/CPR, blah blah blah.

Recently saw some friends of mine who lost someone they knew. The dude lost control of his vehicle and drove off a cliff in a mountain pass, wasn't located for days. Someone close to the situation said it appears he survived the crash but likely bled out in the hours after. They said that had anyone been able to locate him in time he might've had a chance.

Me and the SO use iPhones, and with that you can use your iTunes to locate your phone, can lock it or erase it if stolen, etc. To some people sharing this seems ludicrous, but to me it seemed like a logical precaution after hearing that story. Calm your tits, the story doesn't end here.

I breached the conversation with her, told her I think it would be wise to have in case of emergencies.

She flinched. Her immediate reaction wasn't a problem with being able to locate her (although she did bring that up later.) Her immediate reaction was something like:

"I've heard that you can use that to read my messages. That would be weird."

I don't go through her stuff and haven't gotten the sense she goes through mine, but I've never cared. I looked up what she meant about seeing messages, which checks out, but would be kind of a pain in the ass to do.

My issue is her concern over her privacy, and how she seems intent enough upon hiding it that she thinks it's more important than a safety precaution.

Personally, I've never been super crazy about my privacy. Some people are uptight about it, others are very blazay. Each of my parents have very different attitudes towards it. I've always seen it as a personal choice.

But something about her reaction makes me wonder. If she happened upon my messages, I wouldn't give two shits. I think people are hiding something when they act that way, but I also realize some people have a very different attitude than I do.

This isn't something I've seen anything about on TRP. I want to throw it out there and see what you guys think.

Is this a red flag?

(P.S. Yes, it dawns on me that handing over this kind of information is sacrilege to some. My friends and I share our iTunes accts to share movies/music/apps. Also, I use paypal for iTunes, and I have a transaction amount cap set. I recommend it.)
