Perhaps something more like: 20% of men get all the women who are above a 7 (and below, if they want to) and the rest can get some of the women below 7 if they get lucky.

I just made the 7 up, and of course there will always be overlap and exceptions, but you get the point: high SMV men will get all the quality girls while low SMV men will get the left overs, if at all.

What if I told you your group doesn't represent the entire population? In fact, your friends are likely to be equal in status to each other. So, broadly, you're all in the 20%.

I know several guys who haven't even kissed a girl, let alone had sex with one, and they're in their late 20s. If you don't have a diverse enough range of friends you're going to get most having the same experiences.

As others have said, your sample size is too small.

Just looking at my close friends (we're 21-23) our numbers vary a lot. (1x22, 1x11(myself) 1x5, 1x4, 2x1 & 2xvirgin)

My view is that 20% of the guys have their pick (most of the time) and the rest are left to fight for the leftovers.

First off I'm admitting I haven't read much about this claim so grain of salt and all that.

How I understood it is that 80% of women want 20% of men. Not that only 20% of men get 80% of the women (sex) but that only 20% are what women consider attractive or ideal.

I'm with you OP when it comes to my friends. By the time I was 20 not one of my friends had less than 10+ partners. The ones who had less than 10 were in LTR since their late teens but even most of them had 5+.

You are looking at too small of a sample size.

Its a population as a whole, not your own personal clique.

No. Think of this statistically. Your friend group is a very small sample size; you can't judge the entire population based on a few people you know.

That said, I'm not sure if 80-20 is a generalization or an actual measurement. In any case, it means that most guys only get laid a few times (and some almost never do), whereas lots of women can get laid at will. But the top 20% of men can get almost any woman they want.

I think even if you had hundreds of friends, it would still be too small of a sample to get a good bearing on this statistic overall. Not even taking into account other variables that might be more similar among your friends than the average population-- like ethnicity, attractiveness, income, etc.

But as far as simple observation, I'm inclined to agree with you. I know dudes who I thought could never possibly get laid in their lifetimes who have slept with 5+ women. In fact, I'm pretty hard-pressed to think of anyone I know who has slept with less than three of four women. Even so, that might not even make an impact on the numbers overall. People who never get laid in their lives probably don't have a lot of dudes in their social circles, so it's not like we would even be friends with them in order to observe them.

What I took from it is that if you have 100 men and 100 women (just an example; I know the stat wouldn't be this accurate with such small numbers), then 80 of the women would be having sex with the same 20 dudes, while the remaining 20 women would be split up among the beta dudes or have no sex at all.

I'd be interested in seeing whatever data this statistic comes from. Admittedly I don't really know much about it, but it sounds more like a broscience kind of thing.

Both men and women lie about how many people they had sex with. Men increase thier numbers, women decrease thiers.

In the military there are no secrets. But come monday morning half of the guys would be boasting about the chick they picked up at the bar etc. Meanwhile they where back in the baracks after the bar closed. So they where full of shit.

Back then I had no game. But while most of the guys where getting really drunk or doing stupid bro shit, I would just go talk to a chick or quite often they would come talk to me. Just from that I would get laid. Granted they where not the best looking chicks, but what do you expect hangs around military bars.
