My interest is in writing and/or owning a business. So we're toying with the idea of her taking a full-time job, which for some reason she's itching to have anyway, and me staying home and working on a book I've been wanting to finish for a couple years and has gotten positive feedback from readers so far.

I'm concerned about the implications though. What are the family dynamic implications of me staying home and she working? I wonder about respect, making financial decisions (which I am somewhat in charge of now), etc while I'm trying to become a successful writer. I'd LOVE to think that my wife can do the same as I have done, which is always make it "our money" because I value the contribution she makes to keeping the house clean, taking care of my son, cooking, and giving me sex pretty much whenever I want. However, I wonder if women are in general capable of it and if this is a bad idea. Any thoughts?

Edit: Don't know if this is relevant or not, but her sister just moved in with us on a semi-permanent basis and stays at home for now. It's an added dynamic.

Edit 2: we've figured out that she just can't generate enough income on her own to support us, so my book dream needs to go on hold. My second dream has been to get a PHD in Economics, and with that stipend she should be able to make up about 65% and I'd do 45%. Not a favorable ratio, but better for frame etc than 100% her and 0% me.
