• 1. Find a wingman to support you. Peer pressure has negative connotations attached, but it can also help push you to do awesome things. That's why I'd recommending finding a wingman in your home city. The majority of those who actually go out will testify how much it easier to approach when you've got a positive wingman by your side.
  • 2. Make yourself accountable. Going out to meet women? Announce it on a group like this…and tell people to expect a field report. Just as pussying out in front of friends feels horrible, announcing it to a large group is often just as humiliating.
  • 3. Sleep well. We have more willpower when we are well slept.
  • 4. Eat healthy. The food we put into our body has a huge impact on all aspects of our mental health, including willpower. Read 'The Ultra Mind Solution' by Mark Hyman if you want proof of this
  • 5. Speak to anyone who has overcame approach anxiety before. They'll all tell you with complete honesty that you'll feel way better once you JUST DO IT. They'll also explain how it becomes easier, the more you practice. Exposure therapy helps you overcome almost any fear.
  • 6. Prepare. The unknown factor is what makes us feel fear. We worry that it could go badly. For this reason, preparation and practice can help ease nerves. If we have a strong idea of what we want to do, we'll be less nervous about doing it. That's why it's important to have a strong idea of the basic structure of a pick-up.
  • 7. Warm up. It's difficult for many people to transition from the logical side of their brain to the social side. 'Warming up' the social side of the brain can help. This can be as simple as asking a stranger for the time, or giving them a compliment. Don't be too proud to warm up.
  • 8. Dive in quickly. Most anxiety-inducing activities are scarier before you start than they are while you're doing them. Paralysis by over-analysis is real, so when the moment arrives, dive in before you have a chance to think. Counting backwards from five has proven to be a helpful technique.
  • 9. Change your definition of 'success'. By trying, you've succeeded. After all, you've overcome your fear. You've done what many other people wouldn't dare to do. And you've gained a reference experience that'll make it easier to do better next time. Sounds like a win to me!
  • 10. Consider the worst case scenario of 'failing'. Provided you're socially savvy, there'll be no long-term negative consequences of approaching a woman at all. As fear makes us predict highly improbable worst-case scenarios, it might be even better to discuss 'the worst that could happen' with a logical friend.
  • 11. Now, consider the worst case scenario of never overcoming the fear. Picture how your life will turn out if you never get over this fear. Envision yourself in a decade still being scared of beautiful women. Still being terrified of approaching women? Still feeling nervous on first dates? Is it painful? Is it scary? Really dive deep into these feelings. Make yourself cry if you have to. In my experience, this is the most powerful tip of all. In fact, it's typically only when the pain of not succeeding outweighs the fear of trying that we dare to make scary changes in our lives.
