Music is a pretty big part of my life as well as alot of the people I know. When meet someone new and you share a similar favorite band or artist, doesn't it add a rush of feeling into you?

Well 95% of the women I meet dont share even close to a similar taste in music to me. I don't hold it against them, as I myself don't really fall into the demographic my music is usually associated with. To be more specific, I am into Post Hardcore and Progressive Metal - lots of technical guitar riffs and screaming vocals but its more melody driven than alot of heavy music. Most of the people I know in that scene are 1) younger than me by 5+ years, 2) very immature 3) what many would characterize as "emo", where as I dress and act more clean cut, I have a professional career in my mid twenties with an office job and a university education.

There is a disconnect there. When I meet someone, I go into the interaction assuming that we will not share tastes in music. I try to change the subject, or act as if it doesnt matter. But I'm a musician. Music is a very big part of my life and I'm not going to hide it or change it. I can tolerate other peoples music fine enough but few can tolerate mine.

The people who share my taste in music are generally people I am not friends with, and the people (specifically women) I meet are turned off by my taste in music. Surely there has to be a way around this?
