The only reason I could see this being at all a problem is that she'll think you're picking the spot not so you can bring her home, but because you want to invest as little time in the interaction as possible.

If you're in a big city or on a college campus though, no problem at all. Those are places where you typically don't venture too far.

I live in downtown and i make it clear i live downtown and always suggest meeting at places downtown. wherever the date is i always say lets take a walk. the walk always ends at my apartment.

stop guessing what someone else will or does think. the only way to know for sure what is going on in their head is to ask. in this case tell them, you know a great coffee place and tell them the name and cross streets where to find it. if they don't want to go they will let you know.
