I’m (20m) a single man, but I noticed A LOT of people I follow on social media were posting Valentine’s Day posts with their significant other.

However, many of these couples never post each other any other day. I was surprised to find out that a lot of my mutuals were not single.

I was thinking this is for 2 reasons.

1: People want to keep their relationships private for personal reasons.

2: People want to keep their options open and look “single” even though they aren’t. They only post on Valentine’s Day because of social standards and FOMO. My generation thrives off of online interaction, so I wouldn’t be surprised at this.

Number 1 is obviously the more normal choice, but I can’t help thinking that number 2 is real too. Obviously this isn’t a big deal, it’s just something I was thinking about.
