No one can be always "on." It's ridiculous. Just approach when you feel like it.

I think it's unhealthy to have an alter pickup identity, naturals sure don't. I think you should transform yourself to be the guy that goes after his desires, instead of having a second persona like "ok now I'm gaming, now I'm not". Lifers are people who become the person they want to be, which is the guy who can act on his impulses whenever wherever. If you see a girl you like but give yourself some excuse not to approach, then you haven't really learned anything.

I thought, when I saw the title, that you meant 'on' as in: in the zone.

...But no. I know how overwhelming the desire to GO FOR IT can be, but in most day-settings I'm just like 'fuck it, that's not worth the time/i'm doing something else now.'

There are times when I have absolutely no desire to approach women, even though I've acknowledged they're attractive. I think when you're starting out on this road it's important to put yourself out there, but once you're comfortable talking to and approaching women there's no reason to always be "on" - after all this is about living your ideal lifestyle and if you would rather read your book in the park than approach every girl you see that's more than ok, that means you're doing what you want. And good for you.

But just be careful that you're not using it as an excuse when deep down you really did want to approach, or felt anxiety. That's self deception and counter productive.

I've always interpreted it as being prepared for approach, not always approaching. You never know when you might run into that girl you're itching to talk to, but you just rolled out of bed and stumbled into walmart for milk. Unshaved, in sweatpants, etc. You can still approach of course, but I know I don't feel very confident because I start making assumptions on how she will react based on how I would react in that situation.
