Isn't asking for consent to start a conversation itself starting a conversation? If you want to get better with women you have to not listen to your discomfort with burdening or bothering others. You have to accept that sometimes you are going to upset other people but both of you are going to survive it and do just fine. Also you don't have to go around starting conversations with strangers all the time. Just be socially active and friendlier than most people.

You cannot achieve this with 100% accuracy. At some point you just have to approach and - you shouldn't ask permission to talk to them - that's the opposite of being smooth and casual.

But you can do things like preselection. Who seems more approachable before you approach them. Do they return your eye contact and smile? Are they looking bored? Are they not wearing headphones? Is this a place people go to be social? Things like that can help.

If you have a basic understanding of body language, you'll notice within a few seconds of approaching if they want to talk or not. If they don't want to talk, they will look uncomfortable, afraid, or annoyed. So then you can just make your excuses and leave.

I usually open with, "Excuse me can I tell/ask you something".

Women usually say sure but sometimes they'll say sorry I'm in a rush or just plain ignore me. I guess that's consent if they say sure but I mainly do it as a pre opener so that they're focused on talking to me before I start.

It would be too boring to know when a woman has a boyfriend or if she wants to talk to you or not. So now you have to try, there is no shortcut, no magic eye glasses, no magic crystal ball... so you have to try.

If the woman wants to talk to you, she will talk to you, otherwise you will see that your approach is not welcome and you shouldn't stay there. Is hard to explain but in most of the cases you will see if the other person likes talking to you or not.

Honestly an old trick I learned from OG Tusk was opening with “hey I know this is awkward/rabdom but…” then explain why you’re talking to them (ie: I thought you were pretty). By stating “I know this is awkward” it lets them know you’re socially aware and confident and not necessarily needing consent or permission to go after something you want.

No. This whole consent thing has gotten out of hand. Consent from women is not always verbal and is only important when it comes to sex, otherwise we lose that touch of humanity like reading facial expressions, body language,tone of voice and our overall emotional intelligence.

Women are a lot like petting cats when it comes to consent. You gauge it, test the waters a step at a time. If the cat doesn’t wanna be petted, you’ll be able to tell because cats can’t talk. The cat often pulls away. So with women it’s more of positive or negative behavior. If positive, keep talking. If negative, tell her you have to get going and bid her a good day.
