While it's annoying to not be able to hear people in a crowded bar or one with loud music, you are effectively mini-isolating anyone when those outside of your earshot can't hear you.

Next time you go to a bar, take note of the background noise, and how far away/loud someone has to be to hear you. Earlier in the night when it's quieter (or in other places of the bar), you have a wider area that is the "audio zone".

This can also be effective to isolate targets if you are having a small group conversation. Talk loud enough so that they can hear you, but others can't. This is an easy tactic to have personal conversations when a beta person won't leave and you want to be 1 on 1. Either they join in and get the conversation louder again, or they sit quietly and eventually leave/let you have a 1on1 convo.

The reverse of this, is if you are stuck in a situation where you can't hear people in a large group is to.

  • TALK LOUDER and LEAD (others might not speak loud enough for everyone to hear)

  • Fraction off into smaller groups (maybe it's too loud for 6 people talking, but 2 groups of 3 might be able to hear everyone talking.

  • Talk to the person next to you (which can be frustrating if its not your target)
