I recently got this question from a girl I asked out. I've heard differing viewpoints on this. Don't play down your interest. Be proud. That said, something that doesn't get emphasized nearly enough here considering the pressure a girl feels under to put out.

If a girl asks something like this, what she's saying is, "If I agree to meet up with you, will you take the pressure off that it has to get somewhere tonight?" And the answer should be yes. Never make a girl commit to where meeting up with you needs to go. You'll see her and follow where the chemistry of the evening goes.

After joking around a bit, I reassured her it could be a non-date. We had coffee, it was fine. Cut to our next encounter: she has now explicitly called it a date for me. As I got home, I had a text from her, asking for a kiss next time.
