I was watching an interview with self-help teacher Brendon Burchard (check him out on Youtube, he's excellent) and in the video he says confidence comes from competence, meaning as you do something more and more, you become more competent and therefore more confident at it.

What does this have to do with pick-up? Instead of seeing a woman and hoping something good comes out of your mouth on the spot, drill some type of go-to opener you can use "Hi, I'm (insert your name), I thought you were really cute and wanted to say hello." Practice it until it becomes natural. A "natural" by the way, is just someone who practiced his social skills enough until they became natural. That which he had to do consciously has now become subconscious. It's like riding a bike or driving a car. At first you might have done it with great effort, but now it's second nature.

Practice the whole interaction. Practice your opener. Practice improv. Spend 30 seconds to a minute speaking about a subject and then jump to something else. Practice number closing; "You seem cool, give me your number, I'll give you a call." Practice it so that when it comes time to use it, you know it.

It's like boxing or any sport, the athletes drill and drill and drill so that when it's time to compete, they're ready. They don't just show up hoping things go good.

That's my rant for today. I hope it helps some of you.
