I love going out alone and trying new bars and restaurants. One thing I’d do when I used to be a little anxious was to go to the bar later at night as opposed to going at happy hour or before “it started to get rowdy.” Because everyone had already been drinking for a while, it made me feel at ease. Idk, maybe this will also help someone.

Early bird gets the worm. Getting the the bar and having real conversation with people (before it gets crazy) has been super helpful for me.

So which one is it, early or late lol

One of the two surely.

I don't feel like I can gain social circle or just new social contacts from going to bars, clubs or events alone.
Everyone in said places already knows each other. They came with their friends.
To make a friend, you need accidental repeated contact.
You can't make a friend in 30 minutes, even if you're friendly and socially skilled (which many of us aren't, if we were we probably wouldn't need to do cold approach to make friends)

then you have to visit the same bar/club more than once ... become a regular - and you will recognize people and they will recoginize you.

THIS! It pays to be a regular and women especially like familiarity. It shows women that this guy has been vetted and is not a creep. A guy who enters an establishment and has everyone greet him makes a much better impression than someone who enters a place and sits in the corner all night alone staring at his phone.

Lol "you can't make a friend in 30 minutes" Bruh. It is often much more about the quality of the interaction than time in set. When quality's good and there's a genuine time constraint, social media close and then follow up with good text game. I'm talking about dudes AND chicks here. Or like you said, just be in the same place organically again and they'll literally reapproach you.
This shit ain't rocket science, if you think you can't gain social circle by going to bars/clubs/events/other venues like gym etc, you are the problem. It's something you work on over time
A few basic rules for following up with good text game: 1. Lord Jesus Christ DON'T CONVEY NEEDINESS - How you frame things is important here. 2. Your texts should be emotionally relevant to them 3. Texting is for arranging further meetups NOT shooting the shit

I lost all my friends from hs after hs and the same for college. some i couldve kept contact but it was one sided and not worth it

Developing good social skills is vastly underrated. Good looks, a nice body and/or high income will only get your foot in the door. If your social skills are trash, you won't be attractive. By attractive, I mean someone that people want to be around - not strictly looks.

Go do something social, like dancing or a cooking class.. I could find a different date every week just from the dancing scene alone, if i was a manwhore.

tbh this is very important. lately ive been trying more and more to get out. even starting by just hanging out with friends plying MTG sessions all night has gotten me extra invites to other social stuff. the other night i went bar hopping with some girls i hardly know and ended up reconnecting with an old friend (happens to be a mutual between myself and the girls i was with, so that worked out), and even casually making conversation with an old fling. made some hot eye contact with a few strangers, and even bumped into other chicks who happened to compliment my hair or my outfit. i forget how much people seem to notice me or appreciate my presence because i value my solitude a little too much but its so nice to get out and about every once and a while

The fact that everything is mask mandated and we’re being told to ostracize anyone who holds a different opinion other than our own on the matter doesn’t help either.

Truth.
I'm in the process of finding good places to go. Bars are a hit-or-miss. I had a good night early in June, but since then there's been no luck. Somehow I always pick the locations / evenings that are empty.
I'll still give it a shot once every few weeks. It's worth it to learn to be comfortable in my own skin in public.
The yoga studio I started attending has friendly people and students my age. Becoming a familiar face will take time, but I'm working on it. The exercise is an added bonus.
I'm looking for another hobby to take up. Dance (the buti yoga is surprisingly enjoyable)? Volleyball? I don't know where to start. I guess I'll find out.
