Approach as direct as possible, no less.

It’s not a cut and dry answer.

If I’m approaching a big group, indirect. If I’m approaching a girl by herself at the park, soft direct. If I’m approaching a girl at a club? Direct.

But that’s more how I’m comfortable dealing with those situations.

Pitfall of going too direct is that you give her no chance to get to know you before forcing a decision in your favour.

Pitfall of going too indirect is that you lack premise and have to slowly establish it throughout the interaction.

Soft Direct is the most clean for me, generally speaking. “I like your style, you look very [X]”, or “Can I hazard a guess, you must be [Y]” probably works the best for me in starting conversations that go somewhere consistently

Experiment as much as possible with both.

They both have pros and cons.

As you build up experience, your intuition will tell you what the best approach is .

seen this question a few times, and the consensus seems to be that it doesn't matter (which i guess makes sense when you realise that the coaches/book writers are all split 50/50 too)

I think they both work very well once you approach the girl who is interetsed in you

I think it probably depends on your personality. I prefer being direct, it works better for me and I also much prefer directness when someone else is hitting on me
