Does overconfident/self depreciating humor work with girls?

You say over confident, but really it shows an underlying insecurity. It might make people laugh, and in situations where your worth isn't of importance, eg hanging with your friends, its fine. But a girl doesn't want to hear all the negative things you are thinking about your self. Imagine your flirting with someone overweight and they start joking about how they are just gonna eat you up, then they tell the same self deprecating joke in a different way, over and over and over. What do you do but laugh awkwardly.

Don't do it, even if you are a master at it, people are still laughing at you, not with you.

When I say self depreciating an example would be: me jokingly-"I'll fight you!" her- "I'd probably win" (because I'm skinny) me-"(overly aggressively) Yeah probably!"(because I'm skinny and probably would lose)

Try considering it from the girls perspective. I think the issue is that unless you know someone well, the self-deprecating humor can just come across as you being down on yourself. I know that I'm not a huge fan of girls that do this, it speaks of a lack of confidence and can throw out a "give me compliments" vibe.

I'm having a hard time reconciling why you lumped overconfident humor and self-deprecating humor into one category - those aren't at all the same. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding. With that said I think you'll find that "overconfidence" is something that gets recommended alot by seddit e.g. a girl asks you how many people you've slept with you and your reply should be closer to "Tonight? I'm not sure, I need to use my toes to count that high." (Having just written that, it seems like an example of the overconfidence/self deprecating humor you were talking about. Exception, not the rule).

It's the right kind of humor if it's the kind that makes you laugh. The key thing of it really is, that your purpose amusing yourself, not that your trying to say the right thing for others. When jokes are not as attractive, is when they're an outcome dependent thing.

Its similar to compliments. If a compliment comes form a place of outcome dependence, looked at as a technique to appease her, it's obvious. Where as if it's genuine and in the moment, and you feel something about her is attractive, and you let that out, that's what a compliment should be. They're better when they're from a man who's truly attracted to her, and is comfortable expressing it.

So Im The same way, be comfortable with showing your sense of humor, with no outcome dependence, and no reason except that the thought makes you smile/laugh.

Self Deprecating is the word youre looking for. Depreciation is a decrease in value of something.

If someone attempts to deprecate you, you can respond with a more dramatic deprecation towards yourself - which shows that you aren't challenged by their remarks.

MaxRSD does this with his "petite penis" routine. Its hilarious.
