I've had a date like that once, it was the worst date ever. I couldn't get out of there fast enough and she was hot in my opinion. If there is no chemistry or sexual attraction, I cut my loses and forget about it, doesn't matter how hot she is. Chances are she feels the same way so I don't bother pushing it further. You're gonna have good dates and bad ones, it's how it goes. Don't waste too much time pursuing a girl if there is no attraction/chemistry. You'll find another girl even better and have the attraction too you can focus your time on better.

Could be there was just no chemistry there man, it happens. It sounds like she was shy, so a lot of your night will be spent making her more and more comfortable with you. It's harder to do that and it's a bit exhausting on your part, but a gradual escalation is still the key to making it a good night for the both of you.

On the other hand, if she was uncomfortable with you even starting kino with her (it's important for you to have tried!!) like a hand on the shoulder or you guys getting close playing pool, then it sounds like she's either really shy or uninterested (The better you get at escalating the easier this is btw). I would play the latter, so it's up to you on what you want to do with a shy girl. Friendzone her? More dates with her until she's ready? Spend your time on other girls? Those are your options really.

If it went on for 2.5 hours it couldn't have gone that badly. I've been on bad dates before and they end much faster than that... maybe she was just nervous; girls get nervous on first dates, too. If you're attracted to her don't cut her off just yet.

You don't escalate if you aren't actually feeling it. That's just a recipe for confusion. Just keep her as a friend and keep meeting new girls. If you change your mind later, your dismissal of her will probably cause her to develop a strong crush towards you which you can activate at a later time.

When you are getting neutral responses (and assuming you are sexually attracted to this girl) you have to be polarizing. You have to escalate physically or verbally (saying outrageous shit, for example, if you like that, or it could be overtly romatnic stuff, it's up to you but it has to be not-safe).

Basically this will get the girl reacting to you, it will spike the whole interaction emotionally and it will also save both of you a lot of time.

Being polarizing also means that you are willing to lose her, and that may as well happen, but if she walks out on you because you were too out there is better than 2 hours of bland nothingness.

This is assuming you were attracted to her, if you lost attraction for her, then yeah, it's fine to chat her up as a friend.

I had a very similar Tinder date, though she was definitely a bit more engaging, cracked a few jokes, anyway, there wasn't really any chemistry at all... But I still took her back to my place and we fucked and now we're in a pretty solid FWB situation. I can't see ever dating her, but we hang out pretty platonically and then fuck a few times and she spends the night... Can't really argue with the situation. She was definitely shy and we've gotten to know each other better over the last few "dates"/sleepovers, and I'm glad I just decided to forge ahead despite feeling nothing. The only thing I'd really change is making her more attractive (she's like a 6 body, 7 face), but that's kind of my problem overall right now and why I'm on Seddit to begin with. Trying to work past this shitty glass ceiling I've hit at the 6-7 range.

TLDR; sounds like maybe you've stumbled into what could become a FWB situation. If she's hot but the chemistry/connection isn't there, might as well try fucking - should help you see her in a sexual light. And then that lack of romance dynamic will keep you solidly in the FWB realm. Mainly, I'm just projecting because this date sounds pretty similar to mine but with a hot girl, and I'm looking ideally for sex with absolutely 0 emotional investment.
