Recovering AFC here. I'm a college student and my major is full of introverts + dudes (bad choice I know, but it's too late to switch) so I've been trying to find extracurricular activities to break out of my comfort zone and meet some people.

I decided to take a martial arts class and walk into class the first day to find a HB7 and her friend. I'm still working on my AA so I just say fuck it and approach them. Turns out they are freshmen (I'm a super senior) and we end up talking about school and stuff. Over the next few classes, I take every opportunity to speak up in and get the entire class laughing several times. I also make friends with almost everyone in class, not just the HB7 and her friend.

Fast forward to valentines day and lo and behold, both the HB7 and her friend show up to class(its a night class so they don't have dates). I take this as the all clear sign so I plan to ask HB7 out soon. Next class, I make sure to get paired up with HB7 and she starts flirting hardcore. The move that we were supposed to practice was complicated so some more experienced martial artist offered to train with us but HB7 goes "but we just started", obviously showing that she wants to only work with me. We flirt for a good 10 min and then have to switch partners. Also note that I would talk to HB7 + friend after class often.

So after her going out of town and then not showing up to class one time, she shows up. I make sure we get paired up again and flirt for a while. I do some convo threading to make a connection and ask her out for coffee. She said she's seeing someone and I seem like a 'nice guy'.

Anyway, she seemed very inexperienced (I am as well unfortunately) so maybe she was just scared. Either way I don't know where I went wrong and would appreciate it if someone could shed some light on the mind of a freshmen college girl.
