2 sets may be easier because they'll feel a bit more comfortable with a friend there, and theres one extra person to help the convo along.

Anyway, you're not as bad as you think. Everyone starts somewhere, it just takes time to improve. Don't get down on yourself. Today you focus on opening. Next week you focus on the next step, having a 3 min convo. The week after you ask for their number, etc etc etc. everyone gets stuck man, keep it up and keep your head high. Soon you'll be so used to opening and approaching that it'll be second nature.

Picking up women in the mall, especially around christmas time is very difficult. A lot of people don't want to be there to begin with and are not in the mood to flirt or be approached. I think you are being very hard on yourself. I think that you are a lot further along than most people just by being able to approach women in these scenarios. I've literally never have gotten a number walking around the mall. And I talk to almost anyone who's standing within ear shot of me.

I'm not sure how old you are but I would try going to a bar and picking up women. It's so much easier. They are usually less guarded. They are there to have a good time and always feel flattered when guys hit on them. Last night actually I was at this bar and I realized I was the only guy walking around and hitting on women. Three different sets of girls hadn't talk to a guy all night. One of the groups even came over to me while I was talking to another women to tell me they were leaving and wanted my number.

So don't be so hard on yourself but I would say you are wasting your time at the mall.

First off, be proud of the simple fact that you are actually getting out there and trying. A lot of people can't even make it past that stage. Second, next time you go out, don't nitpick and look for "the right girls." Talk to everyone you think you have an opportunity to talk to. Fuck rejection. It's not a big deal. Worst case scenario is that you don't get a number but you at least tried. And even if you aren't really attracted to the girl, talk to her anyway. Maybe you DO get a number. Even if you never call her, you can at least learn from your success and see what you did right.

Second, your body language is going to be key in these situations. The best advice I ever got for meeting women was to always have a smile on your face as if you are about to fuck the shit out of her. It's gonna give you a sexy smirk and women will pick up on that. If you approach with your hands in your pockets and kinda slouchy, you aren't going to look as good. Smile. Stand up straight. Take up space. They will notice and be more receptive.

As for 2 sets, go for it. Women are like wolves. Pack animals. A wolf on it's own in the wild is defensive and more likely to be aggressive. A pack of wolves are more relaxed because they know they have allies on the field. Approach two sets with jokes. Don't say "Hi, I'm PUA_Baddie and I think you're both cute." Put your thumbs in your belt loops and aim your fingers at your crotch (like this image) and walk right up to them. Look at one and say "You're the good girl of the pair, which means (and turn to the second) you must be the bad girl" and wait for their response. You're calling women out and teasing at the same time. They are gonna get defensive and flirty off the bat and start accusing each other of being the bad girl and joking around. You just set the mood for the rest of the conversation. At that point, I would cross one arm across my chest and grab my elbow, other hand on my chin and smile coyly and nod in agreement. Laugh and tell them I think they are adorable with each other and must have been best friends for years. Don't single out one girl. Make sure you are engaging both and making a triangle between the three of you. Shake hands, introduce yourself and just chat like you are friends. Don't ask questions about clothes or what they are doing here because YOU DON'T CARE. You aren't here for their opinion, you are here to meet new people and HAVE FUN. Introduce a fake time constraint by saying that you have to jet because you have a friend you are waiting for, and if they seem to have been receptive to the conversation, just pull out your phone and open the dialer. Hold it out to them and say put your number in here, I think you might be at least mildly entertaining to hang out with and once they are done, hands back in original position (pointing at crotch, thumbs in belt loops) and just turn and walk away.

I know it's easier said than done, but that is how I got used to doing it and became a wingman for my friends. They NEVER open sets because they are shy or awkward. I do something like this pretty much every time and it works for me and I'm not exactly an attractive dude. Good luck and if you have questions, feel free to ask. One thing I would say is don't beat around the bush. Whoever gave you that advice has it wrong. Talking to a girl about what clothes you should buy isn't going to get you laid. You have to be direct with a girl and let her know your intentions. Girls like a guy who knows what the fuck he wants. You want HER, not no overpriced A&E shirt. Remember that you're there because you want to get your penis inside her vagina and not to buy clothes. Tell her that you're not there to buy clothes/makeup/lingerie/whateverthefuck, and instead say that she's cute or extremely gorgeous and you had to get to know her. Go from there. Establish that you are a guy that wants to get to know her and is interested, not some creeper buying clothes and lurking the store waiting for a moment to talk to her.

Don't be discouraged. Rejection is not a bad thing, in fact it's one of the best things in the fact it only shapes you to become better and improve. It's not failure if you're trying. You're already ahead of everyone who isn't approaching.
