I have a large social circle and I like to entertain, throw parties, DJ etc. What I noticed is that- not so much close friends but friends of friends- have been trying to tool me lately. What they did most recently was make up a 'funny' nickname (like Mr. Cool Guy) and started calling me that. This really pisses me off b/c I am the one making the party happen, paying for alcohol, etc. In this situation I can't uninvite these folks, the party is too big. But it's gotten to the point where they are really pushing it. My reactions could be 1) going to these people and saying, listen funny gal/guy, I can make up nicknames too if that's how you want to play it. Or 2) Just ignore it or 3) approach them in a 'nice' way and say I don't appreciate it.

What do you think? Anybody ever had this happen? I used to be the nobody-nerd but as soon as I get some attention, start becoming 'cool' some people seem to try to cut you down.
