When you first arrive go sit in a high traffic area, by the bar where people are getting drinks is ideal. When they come up just start a conversation with them if they seem cool or down to talk. Once you have a beer or two in your system you can get up and start approaching a little more actively.

Aim to have fun not take any women home.

If they ask where your friends are say that none of them could come out and you didn’t want to sit in your apartment all night.
