I think cute means you have a nice face, hot means you have a nice body. Both are good, hot could be hot body + cute face. Just “cute” doesn’t mean you have a bad body, it’s just a face compliment. That’s how I see it if I say cute or hot

Imo, cute indicates a beautiful woman that is more like a cuddle buddy and friend, something to nurture. Hot indicates that you and your body are smoking, a real "prize" ie arm candy. I prefer cute over hot. Hot to me means high maintenance. Hope this helps!

Depends on the guy. To me, hot is the lazier compliment. I call celebrities or random girls I wouldn’t even want to talk to hot. A cute girl to me is someone I’d actually consider making a move on. A girl who is hot is fun to follow on Instagram, a girl who is cute is someone I’d actually enjoy taking out

Another possibility is the guy wants to compliment you on your looks, but may not be too confident about being so forward. “Damn you’re hot” is really quite forward, whereas saying you’re cute is a little more ‘safe’ of a compliment if you get me.

The real question is how does that come across. I don't mind complimenting a woman IRL when it will be seen as bold but online it seems cheesy because I haven't even seen her yet. Even if I do think she's cute I feel like it comes across as lame

I tend to call girls cute when they're both physically attractive and also have a friendly personality that I'd like to know a little better.

"Hot" is more sensual but less personal - I'm usually only referring to them being sexy in a purely physical sense.

Of course, those are the meanings that I would generally mean when using the words. I think a lot of guys will either use one or the other, use them interchangeably, or any other combination of uses - you have to read between the lines if you want anything more solid.

Using cute is mostly based on the girl's face. Using hot is based on the girls clothing/makeup (ie. girls who wear sexy clothing like skirts, form fitting clothes, showing skin, etc).

I'd say none of these are truly good compliments, they're all superficial. If they're coming without knowing each other for example within the first few messages in a tinder convo I guess that's the most one can tell by that moment so it's fine. Just note that its super easy to throw a compliment in every chat you have open. It's way harder to come up with a compliment that suits the person individually, which I would count as a higher compliment.

A superficial yet individual compliment (which I would put above any "cute" or "hot"): "Those freckles suit you so well!" or "Your smile is incredible" (I know they're still basic but I'm a dude and coming up with compliments without a face in mind is hard)

An example (yes it's super edgy but i'm in lack of a better example): "It's so incredible that you invest so much time helping children in need, truly an attractive characteristic"

From my perspective (yes I tindered a lot and met my fiancee there) "cute" and "hot" are low-effort.

Cute imo is partially looks and people can look cute in just a knitted hat and warm jacket in winter or the way they smile when you make a joke, but to me cute is also partially personality like the way someone jokes around, etc idk cute for me is more in the small things. While hot is just someone who looks exceptionally good I guess idk I have more interest in people I deem cute than people I deem hot because that hot look will fade over time and although someone's personality may change it won't become something unrecognizable

Hot seems far too crass and I would only ever use it if I was describing a girlfriend, basically reserved for someone I'm comfortable with. I wouldn't ever say it to a girl who I'm not in a relationship with.

If I was complimenting a girl I was interested in, id use cute or gorgeous, depending on the scenario. I'd Probably never say beautiful, as that is generally creepy-sounding to hear from a stranger nowadays and is tough to pull off without sounding like a creeper.

Cute is definitely a word I'd save for someone I'm very much interested in whereas hot is reserved for like, a stranger or a celebrity I'll never see again or never even meet.

I would prefer my 'girlfriend' to be cute. Hot just means someone has a good figure, imo. Much prefer cute. Cute is definitely the better one. As weird as it is, to me, cute kinda means someone is cuddly, got a really attractive (but not fake) face, and is like all nicey nicey.

I think cute means attractive, but not in a sexual way. When I see a cute girl, I’d probably consider going out with her. I believe hot means that a girl is sexually arousing, so I’d probably want to get with her.

There is no correlation to any word like cute, hot, or sexy meaning anything specifically. It just depends on what the guy’s experience is. If he uses one word more it means he’s used to saying that word. Cute doesn’t mean nice face specifically and hot doesn’t mean hot body. You can have a cute or hot face. Men don’t sit around thinking what to put word by word. They literally all mean the same thing.
