I normally don't go out of my way to talk to anyone at the gym, but if there was a 9 who I had the above interactions with, I would definitely talk to her. I think at the gym you should keep it very friendly, but try to get together outside.

Like baianobranco said, I'd recommend starting by just sticking your pinky toe in the water (by saying hi or whatever) and going from there, based on how she responds. Gym game is perfectly fine, and no, you don't have to actively avoid it or whatever bullshit other people spew. That's retarded. Yes, people often go to the gym just to work out, not to socialize, blah blah blah, who gives a shit? Unless you legitimately think you'll get kicked out of the gym for socializing with someone, what negative effect does it really have on you?

Pro-tip: Nobody's gonna say shit unless they actually think you're doing something "wrong." I've seen examples where guys weren't doing anything "wrong" and still had to deal with the police for it, but those were some really extreme examples -- they're outliers that shouldn't even be considered. It's like when a plane crashes, everyone and their mother hears about it -- but nobody tells you about all the planes that didn't crash.

Gym game is just like any other day game. The only difference is that you usually need some sort of pretext to initiate conversation. You had it here (you're in the hallway, so not in the middle of a set or anything like that) but didn't capitalize. Next time just go for it. Say hi. Even if it's just a passing "hi," it at least sets things on a more personal level, and then maybe next time you can take it further -- OR, the very next time you see her, instead of just saying "hi" and getting a "hi" back, you can make some innocuous comment about something (like the weather, or your workout, or her workout, or the gym itself, or maybe some fat guy you saw at the gym, anything that might start an actual conversation -- even current news, if you can figure out how to open with that).

Edit: A little "trick" I like to do is where I'm walking one way, she's walking right at me, and I basically act like I don't see her (like I'm paying attention to other shit, maybe my phone, or something else in the environment), so I basically walk right into her -- where we have that awkward moment where you're trying to get around each other. Then I'll tease her with something like "Hey! Watch where you're going!" (say it playfully, and make it obvious that you yourself weren't watching where you were going), and see how she responds. Usually they just laugh and keep going, but if she happens to respond, that means she was already looking for an opportunity to talk to you (usually). Then pick up the convo from there.

Every time i think of flirting at my gym, I think of this Oatmeal comic, specifically, "The Clever" panel. At any rate, you should know a good opportunity when you see one.

Fucking This. I'm not gonna lie, but I do have a good body because I work out a lot and I do get a lot of exchange of glances..but I never know what to say to them. (mostly HB7-10). My social anxiety sucks! What about trying to say "Hey are you checking me out?" phrase or "Hey I noticed you work out a lot, you mind spotting me?" ... I don't know if this is a good tactic or not.. but Ill give it a try.

But a word of caution; people at the gym are usually there to work out. I know that when I work out, I like to focus and make sure I'm not resting too much in between sets. I'd probably talk to a chick if she came up to me, but I'd probably be thinking "gotta finish this workout" the whole time we were chatting.

Everyone's different though. Who knows, maybe she'd love to get hit on at the gym by a bunch of gym dudes. Maybe she'd hate it and gets it all the time. All in all, you don't know, so give it a shot.

The gym is my prime place, all I do is go as hard as I can and when I'm resting I give people really big smiles and talk to them. The thing about gym game is that you don't need kino as much, since a shirtless body works wonders in its place. Just be confident, and be really friendly. Once touch is initiated, its intentions are usually very clear and it rockets from that point. Just say hey when you're resting, and ask her to spot you. It'll keep her focus on you while you're using your body in ways that'll get her thinking. It's a great spot to pick up women, but if she looks closed off leave her
