Has anyone ever been to a singles event before? Pro-tips?

It'll be most important to be fun. I'm not sure what kind of activities they'll have, but you can be sure there will be a lot of the standard "getting to know you" conversation going on. I would try to avoid this where possible.

Maybe bring a box of matches and hand them out, since it's a "match" party. (AKA the corny joke opener)

Keep in mind that nobody knows each other, and that there's going to be a lot of introductions and talk about jobs, education, generic stuff. Don't be the generic guy. One I tried recently at a college party where I knew nobody was to be a CIA agent. I sent girls on secret missions to bring me alcohol, and said shit like "The United States of America thanks you for your service." It worked pretty well for me that night (lots of interested girls, ended up f-closing the hottest one) and in the future I want to expand on it, i.e. point out a random person across the room who's a international arms dealer or something and is my assassination target. Feel free to borrow that or create your own exciting, clearly fake alter ego. Use that for the introduction and then ask her what she does and get her talking about herself. Best case she might even go along with your story and make up her own to match it.

If you've read up on the sidebar stuff and are regular here, there's nothing extra to know. The fact that it's a singles thing should make it easier, in fact.
