Okay here's my view.

Ever since saying no.. Your emotional side (which was really excited to sleep with her) got shut down by the side of you that respects other people's decisions.

So your emotions have gone down because you no longer see yourself sleeping with her. So there's really hot much else she can do for you in your life. Either she sleeps with you or there's really not much point in her being around.

This can be fixed by realising that. 1. Women think in emotion, and emotions change. So what she says counts for nothing!

If you cant change her emotion to something appeasing. Then she could be lining you up just get your attention.. You could be the fall back guy in case she can't get approval from anyone else for longer than a couple of days.

Approval, attention, are important to women. They're like food! (in my eye. she'll generally go for the guy who doesn't give her attention so easily. Who sees her true worth! Which is.. In this situation. Not much apart from a little sex appeal! Liberate yourself from the need of sex and she is powerless over you

What value does she have in your life. What do YOU GET From her being around? Is it just the hope of sex that keeps her around? Or Is there something else?
That's up to you to look at and decide.

Is she truly someone you consider your friend or was it just an “in” to get to know her?

If it was the latter, just tell her your not emotionally available right now and stop talking to her for a couple of weeks. Figure out what you want and choose your course of action from there.

However, if she is truly your friend and the feelings were something that came later, do something to get it out of your system (venting/working out). She expects that this “incident” is merely a bump in your friendship and you can keep on as usual. I’d agree with that too. Having another friend just expands your social network and ability to meet more people.

Friendship is not something that cares for gender and is absolutely not a consolation prize. Cherish it but just don’t be a pushover.

You don’t owe her a friendship anymore than she owes you a relationship or sex. Just be honest with her. Tell her you don’t want to be just friends. Tell her you can’t pretend to be okay with just being friends because you will want it to be more and that’s not what real friendship is. That wouldn’t be fair to her or you. And then actually do that. Stop being friends with her. Don’t expect her to come running to you. There is very little chance she will. Just move on, work on yourself, and talk to other girls. Don’t become hung up on her.

Be straight with her, no point playing game's. Seems as though (and correct me if I'm wrong) you where only interested in the friendship as you where hoping it would lead to more. As soon as that wasn't the case then you lost interest.

Human nature, the hard part is if that is the case it was a disingenuous friendship so you may have to sugar-coat it (that just depends on how much you value the friendship if at all)?

You don’t feel excited to talk to her because you are not excited to talk to her, simple. Do not play that denial mind game with yourself where you keep being friends and think she will change her mind because of something you do, that’s approval seeking. Also know that when she asks why you don’t talk as much or seem uninterested, if you say something like “I’m into you and don’t see you as a friend and don’t want to be just friends that’s why I’m not interested in talking” she is probably going to try to play victim and make you feel like the asshole for expressing yourself and not just letting her have her way.
