I’m fine when I get talking to somebody organically but when I have to go out of my way to engage with someone it sets the frame (in my mind) that I’m somehow interrupting them and it doesn’t really lay a good foundation for the interaction. I know sometimes you genuinely are interrupting someone, but oftentimes if you’re respectful enough they won’t mind you cold approaching them - probably even be flattered.

Any tips or advice about when to or not to approach - and how to engage in a way that doesn’t feel confrontational... especially if there isn’t really anything noteworthy about the setting or the situation that you can chat about?
