I've been seeing a lot of "I can go up to a girl and say hi but I don't know what to say after!" around here lately, so I thought I'd just write a quick guide on how to keep up a conversation.
First: Initially talking to a girl you have sexual interest in is not different from talking to a guy friend of girl you don't have sexual interest in. Talk to them like a friend at first and get to know them how you would get to know anyone. This means asking questions.
You can have a run-of-the-mill conversation by asking her about her job or the people she knows at the X event you're at. There's a lot of questions you can ask on those topics, but they're surface level and quite frankly, boring. Unless you're charming as hell and funny about these mundane topics, she's likely not going to be that interested in the conversation. How do we remedy this?
Tangents. Every conversation is a circular idea. If you keep on the same topic long enough, you'll get where you started. But every circle of conversation is connected to other ones at all sorts of points. What I mean by this is, you can ask where she works. "Oh, I work at X." You can ask what she likes about her job, which is staying on the same topic circle, or you can ask something like "X? Didn't they just have that big thing Y in the news? Do you know more about that?" Now you're on the tangent because you're not talking just about her job, you're also talking about recent, relevant news that she's likely able to talk about at some level of depth. The idea here is to find common ground through tangents. Once you're both talking about something you have in common, the burden of conversation will be shared and you'll get more comfortable with each other.
This is how conversations work, and how they change as people converse. Next time you're talking with a group of friends, stop them after 15-20 minutes and try to go backwards through all the topics to the first one you talked about, and you'll see how hard it is to do that and also how many tangent paths your conversation took.
By taking these tangents, you can discuss topics at progressively deeper levels, find things you two actually have in common, and even talk more sexually in a comfortable way.
If you're absolutely clueless on what to say, find something she's wearing that you can compliment or talk about. Girls dress themselves up for a reason, so they'll likely appreciate you noticing their effort. Then, as before, take tangents to change the topic until you're talking about something that's common ground.
Final thoughts: Find common interests through tangents, which will make your conversation feel more natural because, well, it should be. Be flirty with light teasing, but you can let your body do most or even all of the flirting through progressive kino (which is definitely written about in the sidebar).
