Women are just people. They're not scary, or special, or goddesses to worship. They have hopes and dreams, fears and desires just like anyone else. Most are pretty insecure deep down. A few rise above that and become truly remarkable individuals, but still nothing worth putting on a pedestal. I recommend treating them as you would any of your guy friends, and then adding sex into the mix.

EDIT: Guys, cool it with the downvotes on people like /u/SovereignsUnknown. I may disagree with his opinion, but there's no sense in blasting him for it.

Just think of it from your own perspective. Have you ever had someone in your life, maybe a friend who wasn't as popular, or a younger person, look up to you and think everything you did was amazing? How did that make you feel? Did you consider them an equal? Or was it hard not too look down on them, considering all the crap they were feeding you about how amazing you were, when really you're just a regular guy?

Now think about it when you do that to a girl. It's no different. Treating her like everything she does is incredible and she's the most amazing girl on the planet leaves her no choice but to look at you the exact same way. "If you put someone on a pedestal, they have no choice but to look down on you". So guys, don't put that girl on a pedestal. Realize that she has flaws, she's not perfect, and if you get past thinking with your dick for a second, you'll probably realize there are a lot of things about her that really aren't that great. So get out there, have some confidence, and look around at everyone else you used to idolize. You'll probably realize soon enough that they aren't as amazing as you thought they were, and you have just as much to offer as they do (if not more).

I great Book to read "No More Mr Nice Guy" explains why men (boys) do this to women.. One of the reasons was because now (2013) and for the last 45 years, women have been the ONLY caretakers for young boys and were the father (or male) figure is just not helping the process is upbringing.

What really turns on a girl is masculine energy, pretty much in a nut shell, men needs to learn how to treat a girl and that always doesn't mean to treat them like princesses.. because they're really not.

Dont treat them like friends or put her on a pedestal. Treating her like a friend gets you friend zoned. Putting her on a pedestal turns her off right away.

I had an experience with a lady friend the other day that basically told me the same thing, except I got to hear a story about a saddened nice guy plus alcohol involved. This girl told me that she didn't like him and liked being put on the pedestal even less. For all the shit people give this subreddit, you guys are right about a lot more than people give credit for.
