How to remember people's names? (especially at night game)

I've mentioned this several times:

Use it repeatedly in the conversation. Repeat it when you hear it, then can say something using their name.
Think of their name in big bold letters written across their forehead
Think of an image that sounds like their name "Beverly" might be "beverly hills cop" and imagine eddie murphey interacting with her, for instance.
Think of a friend with the same name, picture the two of them together.

I just give people nicknames. That's waaaay easier for me than remembering someone's name.

When I get their name, I pull out my phone and open a notepad. While I'm typing her name covertly of course I'll ask her a question to get her talking. Then ill store my phone in my pocket. The simple act of writing it out will have me remember it, but in any case I can always pull out my phone and text pad and it'll be there. It's saved my ass more than you know.

Repeat their names to them and make a game of remembering as many people's names as possible. If you remember someone's name amd they forget yours, you win and that opens up more avenues for playful teasing and future openings in conversation (let's see if you remember my name this time, KATIE or whatever). You can be a little obnoxious about it if it's clearly in jest.

When you're actually in conversation, use questions that are specific and directed at certain people in the group. e.g. "Tom, where did you say you lived?" This gives you details to go along with the face and the names so that you have the answer to associate with the name and the face.

I associate something with their name. I'll even say what I'm associating their name with to them.

Like I have a friend Johnny. When I met him, I wanted to remember his name. So I called him Johnny bravo.

I have another guy I met who's name is Solomon. So I said oh yeah from the bible.

I make it a game, and I have fun with it.

Common names are easier to remember. Being sober really helps as well. Try to associate their name with something about them. I personally just have repeat their name in my head once or twice during our chat and once or twice after the conversation is over.

If they have a really unique name, ask them to spell it.
