Bro, I'm 32, and the very thought of dating anyone younger than 22 grosses me out. Imagine how 40-year old police officers, lawmakers, court judges, and angry parents will see you as if they realize you slept with their teenage daughter.

If no one in your life emphasized to you yet to avoid anyone close to being younger than 18, now's the time in happens.

People throw around "she's mature for her age" so easily nowadays (not pointing to OP specifically). The fact that she can hold a "aldult" conversation and is a bit outgoing, does not make her mature. I understand that some things experienced during childhood can push a kid to becoming more rational than others with the same age, but being mature comes down to experience and understanding how to maneuver through life and circumstances.

OP pls, leave the girl alone. She's too young and you're in two completely different phases of your lifes. The difference will become apparent over time and the relationship between you two can hurt her more than it will hurt you. You simply understand life better than her. Just find yourself another girl, please.

People mature at different speeds, so there are really mature 18 year olds, and there are really immature 18 year olds. So, It's not like 18 is this magic number.

But it is the number where some countries (or states) have decided that they will put the bar. Most countries put the bar at 16, though, but you had better check local laws unless you want a very unpleasant surprise.

Other than that, the bigger the gap, the more of a chance there is that you're at different stages in life. The life of a student is kinda different than the life of a wagey, and if that means that you're off doing very different things, at very different energies, it can pose serious challenges to your relationship.

Tho, with that said, there's only one way to find out. Some peeps are happy with such an arrangement, and some aren't. You've just gotta be sympathetic to the other person's view and general maturity in life.

Also be mindful that the younger you are, the more of a chance is there that the younger one wants to experiment, though. For that reason, the first few relationships a person has, often don't last. Though I've also seen proof of the contrary.

If you’re not breaking any laws then age is just a number. Some 17 year olds are more mature than the average 24 year old, and some 24 year olds still act like they’re 17.
