Have your usual fun, but be increasingly dominant and masculine and close strongly - it's better if she says no to a proper date than to get a friendly number that will get you nowhere.

Unless what you want is a social circle of women, that is.

Are you going out at bars? Drunk girls will give their number to anybody, then not reply.

Stop focusing on numbers.

Focus on the next activity.

Jump to different venues with the same girl/group during the night, that will make a more lasting impression and leave fonder memories.

Gathering from your post and comments, you're day-gaming and going direct approach. I also do the same thing, so I will give you some of my opinions:

1. Smile and establish physical contact when you first approach. It's important to smile in day-game direct approach because it's a very aggressive approach, so it's good to counter-balance with a smile to show that you are not a threat. Physical contact can be established through touching her on her shoulder to get her attention, and/or introducing your names. For the handshake, hold it for just a tad bit longer than you normally would. Punctuate your conversations by lightly touching her arm when something interesting or funny is said.

2. Maintain confident body posture. This is key because many men subconsciously think they are doing something wrong by approaching a woman. Their weak body posture ends up betraying that. More important than anything you can possibly say to her, is maintaining confident, relaxed, and strong body language. Along this line is maintaining strong eye contact. It is better to err on the side of aggressiveness rather than passiveness when it comes to eye contact. Look in her eyes and think about fucking her. The way you look at her will sub-communicate that type of desire.

3. Set-up dates before asking for her number. We men put a little bit too much emphasis on getting the number. Getting her number doesn't guarantee anything, as you have undoubtedly been experiencing. Try to set up a date right there and then. Tell her you want to take her on a date to do XYZ, and ask her what her availability is like. Then set a specific date and time for it to happen. Get her number after that has been established. This communicates to her that you are interested in her romantically (and not as a friend), it makes her invest in you because she is visualizing the date happening, and it gives you certainty because you don't have to figure out a date over text.

As you can see, many of my tips involve things you do during the approach, not after. The reason is because I found that no matter how good or bad your text game is, she will most likely make her decision to go on a date with you from what she remembers about you when the 2 of you met.

Also, it's important to remember that you won't achieve success with every woman you approach. There are simply too many things that are outside of your control. Don't sweat the small stuff.

I am short as well. I've very good at getting numbers and finesseing but I almost feel like if I'm not taller than her she doesn't take me seriously
