You need a life.
You need to learn how to tell a story.

Step one doesn't mean you need to go live in the Congo for 3 years and become the most interesting man alive, it means you just need to get out, so you have something to share. Visit new restaurants and cafes, explore some events in your city, take up new hobbies, try cooking new food, or just go for a walk to the market. You'll always see little things that can be turned into stories, or that you can reference back to in a future conversation.

Step two is even more important. I have a million great experiences in my life, wonderful adventures, and hitchhiking encounters, but I'm absolutely awful when it comes to telling a story in person. I usually just ramble out details like I'm recalling it in my mind, and never form it into an actual story that builds up and has a punch line or climax. In the end, my life sounds boring as hell, even though I think it's more interesting than most. A lot of times my friends will tell a story about an aspect of life, and the entire room with be entertained. Then, I'll try to recall the same story with another group of people on my own, and everyone will simply be silent and look bored or confused. If you're a good story teller, you can likely make anything exciting. You can make your walk to the pub, or visit to the grocery store a funny, and captivating story.

My life all of a sudden became interesting when I began making myself busy. See, when you're busy, your time becomes more rare to the people around you and they see you as a rarity. More importantly, when you're busy, you don't have time to think about being depressed or boring or bored.

Me personally? What do I do to keep busy? I write a to-do list and I knock it out. It includes push-ups, reading a book, watching a documentary, learning to code, trading stock. All of a sudden the things I was doing became important to me. I shook off the depression by being busy. And you'll be less boring when you do shit that you can tell other people about. Tell them about how you killed yourself at the gym today. Tell them about the story of Marius in Plutarch's Lives. I don't know what you're into. You do. So do it better than you are doing now.

The most profound realization that changed my life forever was this:

"If I do not have what I want, I simply have not put in enough effort to get it."

Let that one sink in for a minute. Reflect your entire life up to this point based off that one sentence.

Find the things that excite you most and nurture those interests. You'll end up cultivating the sense of excitement which is what tends to be infectious in any social setting. It sounds kinda weird, but you'll end up learning how to be excited. This worked for me at least. My disposition tends to be cool and subdued, which comes from my being an introvert. However, over the years I've learned how to be more animated. Takes practice and incremental change like all things.

don't ever respond with OK, when someone says something, they usually expect input. Input means you try to use your creative powers to think of something interesting to say.
Use google. search for "top 10 fun hobbies" or something. Try searching "telling stories perfectly". Or "top places to go to <in your city>"
When someone says a story or says a sentence about what he/she did or conducted. Think back to something similar you experienced and make sure it's related.
Friendships/relationships are about reciprocation. They tell a story, you tell a story or ask for another story from them. They ask you a question, you answer, then ask them a question this time. It's like a game.
find out what interests someone, and ask them about it. Try to get involved somehow if it's fun for you.

Boring people tend to lock up memories in their brain and never tell anyone anything about their life. Or they are forgetful. Or they don't have strong opinions about anything which makes you complacent and boring, which is caused by excessive not-caring.

Many people live, not many are alive. Do whatever makes you happy. Explore the world, the internet, your mind, and your body. Take on some new things. I never played ping pong unit last month and I can say fairly that I fucking love it, and I'm pretty damn good. I've gotten 2 phone numbers, and had a date start with PP. Explore your limits. "What a shame to live, and not know what you were capable of."

We’ve all heard the adage that “Happiness comes from within, not without”, and this is why developing your Vision, Purpose and Goals is so fvcking important in your success.

I know what you’re probably thinking…

“But Kevin… I don’t know what I want to do NOW, let alone in the future!?”

Champ, it’s OK.

Trying to figure out the one job you’re going to do for the rest of your life is so fvcking draining.

It’s nearly impossible.

It’s important to remember that we find growth in change and finding success in the areas of health, wealth, and sex are the founding principles for happiness.

So long as you are succeeding in those 3 areas, the noise of mediocrity will quickly begin to fade and the necessary path in creating your future will prevail.

So.

Badass.

Something tells me that YOU have what it takes.

Amuse yourself. Say what you think is funny. Talk about what you want to talk about. Draw her into your reality.

Don't become overly-focused on impressing her. Create fun for yourself and you'll be a "fun guy"
