Eventually, I knew this would pop up.

Go with what works best with you. I'd rather have all the tools in my pocket rather than saying, "Indirect is dead."

Girl walking down the street? Direct
Girl in the coffee shop with a weird looking drink? Indirect
Girl waiting for the bus? Direct or Indirect
Girl at a club? Direct or Indirect (Although I'd probably agree 99% of the time, Direct)
Girl doing her groceries? Indirect

There's so many different possibilities and circumstances that will work for each person, so no indirect is not dead. (And I use both equally).

I think one of the reason's indirect is "dead" is because of the method they use. A lot of people first start this whole "game" thing are really bad with chicks. If they even tried to go direct approach (no way I could have done it at first I was a huge pussy) they would get called creepy because they were awkward as fuck, did something weird, etc.

They decided that indirect was the way to go. However, they only went indirect as an excuse to hide their intent. No inner game yet. They think INTENT = BAD. They make excuses so they don't have to own up for having as dick. Then friend zone central occurs.

The next step is whenever they have the inner game down and have the balls to go direct. Now, they realize direct works, and decide indirect is total fail. This isn't true and they are missing part of the whole story, because indirect has its place too.

Real indirect game is when you are indirect and still keep the sexual intent known and strong, but just leave it unspoken. The easiest way to do this is eye contact and displaying IOIs. This makes the sexual tension really high because sex hasn't been mentioned at all. Can you imagine what the girl thinks if she's attracted to you? It's quite a fun tactic.

It's alive and well out here in Tokyo. Tbh I was never a fan of direct. It completely takes all of the mystery out of the interaction and places the sexual decision in her hands. "OK, this guy thinks I'm cute, he wants to fuck me. Should I let him?" This doesn't work well on girls in Tokyo because they have massive whore-phobia and are completely paranoid about getting "played." I could see it working on girls who are more sexually liberated though.

The thing about direct game is, where you're using it is also important. For day game it's apparently good from what I've heard. For night game it's just unecessary and has a chance of spoiling the interaction.

With regards to the whole "indirect = hiding intentions" argument I'd say that's only true in some cases. For me, I use heavy kino in most interactions, which is a pretty direct way of letting a girl know I'm interested in her without actually verbalizing it. So it's also hard to nail down exactly what indirect is... At some point you definitely need to communicate interest, I personally think it should be done with kino / escalation. Once she's bobbing her head up and down with her lips wrapped around your cock she's gonna figure out you're interested in her.

I totally agree. Pickup has to do with basic human nature, and how humans react in social environments. There aren't trends. There is only what works for the particular person you are picking up, in the particular environment you happen to be in.

Hi there. I first got into 'game' stuff some 6 years ago, was pretty obsessed with it through my early years of college but was quite successful.

The way i see it, indirect game is a stepping stone to the real thing i.e. being confident enough to use direct game.

Whereas i used to ONLY tease girls and use C&F on them enough to get any traction going (coffee dates, movies, come over to my apt etc); i slowly progressed from that to more direct game with some C&F still mixed in just to keep it playful.

So i wouldnt say indirect game is dead, but its a lot more of a helping hand as you can say things in indirect game with low confidence (hey, er...can i ask you a question about this real quick?) as opposed to something with confidence oozing out your ears (once picked up a 9 from a phone store by telling her i couldnt concentrate on picking a phone cause she in the store, later on went for coffee with her and we dated for a few months).

No. Most of my game is Indirect and it is still working out for me. I do both Direct and Indirect and there is no "Which one is better/dead/alive" it i all a matter how you evolve that that Direct/Indirect game in order to hook that girl.

I don't know how to feel about this, because my natural instinct is to go indirect, because without pickup, that's who I am - I love teasing people and talking about random shit.

So for me, direct game seems too... simple. It's not fun. Admittedly, because of this I haven't put any real effort into direct game, so maybe it's fun if you get into it, but I really do enjoy the conversations, and the close at the end is just a cool added bonus.

I agree though, direct game is pretty much the trend in pickup these days, and I think it's at least partially due to the public's perception of pickup, and alpha male behavior patterns (we like giving a big middle finger to people who disapprove, and what better way to say fuck off to society than to become even more like the worst they see in us?).

Furthermore, the people pushing direct game are pushing it hard. They're pretty much shoving direct game down everyones throat, because that's the mentality you've got to have in order to make direct game work. Not only is direct game at odds with indirect game, it's adversarially so.

Can someone give me a good link on the difference between direct/indirect as we are talking about here? Is it as simple as letting them know what your intentions are immediately? Isn't it kind of implied either way?
