Be sure to shout them from the other side of the library.

Or just go up and say hi and tell them that they're cute, that's usually appropriate for most settings.

One time I was like: "hey.. so I have a dilemma... I should definitely stop procrastinating, but I see you here, and you're really cute, with that dress and that hair..."

So that was going direct, not always the smoothest option, but always an option. Could have been simpler. But that was naturally what came out of my mouth in that moment.

I've also gone "indirect" at a girl in the library. "Hey are you quick with writing MLA things?..... ... Actually it's ok I got it. I'll just be honest I don't need help with HW I just thought you looked nice."

It actually shows some social intelligence to call out your indirectness at times when other guys would just act like they're slick. And it's funny. For example I took a number in my first class back today. "Let me get your number for keeping up with class stuff... (while getting it) you know I'm bullshitting and I just think you're cute right?"

Ah yes, one of my first cold approaches was in a library. Unless the girl has an assignment due the next day they'll always agree to a coffee break if they like you.

Library is literally the lowest-energy environment you can be in, which can be good or bad.

Read a method once where you sit across from a girl, and work for a bit, then just slide a tic tac toe game over with the first move made. And don't say anything. Whoever wins, parlay it into owing a drink.
