I've been having trouble with my identity and persona these past couple of months.

I'm a black guy, 19 years old, 6"2'. My city rides heavily on stereotypes, and if you're a black guy who talks properly you'll get the "you talk white" from family, friends, and even random ass strangers.

I want desperately to convey myself as someone who's incredibly educated, wise, and competent, but the culture I grow up in tells me to talk with slang, don't worry about how you sound, and even make yourself sound less intelligent than you are at times, all in the name of sounding "cool". I'm by no means an "Oreo"; slang and the stereotypical black dialect is a natural part of how I normally speak. You probably wouldn't believe that based on how I type, but in real life, I sound really ghetto.

My question is, are there any black/African American men who I can look up to as an example of how to come across as smoothe but also educated?

I hate to make it a racial thing, but if I model myself after alot of the white PUAs and try to sound/act like them, I'll be labeled as corny and an outcast.
