With all the recent headlines about either sexual harassment, nude photos, and sex predators you wonder if it's ok to even talk to a woman closer than 10ft away.

I have always cultivated close friendships with a lot of girls, since I was young. And I've witnessed a lot of foul shit done to women, right in front of my eyes, myself. Honestly, this #metoo thing seems pretty damn legit.

Seriously, women who go out to clubs at night can basically assume that they're going to get groped and otherwise harassed, repeatedly. We're finally reaching a point where we're saying, enough is enough.

Which is great for us, because all that groping and harassment contributes to women shutting down ANY strangers who try to open them later on in the night. It also contributes to the whole bitch shield thing, in general.

It seems like we're going through some real cultural growing pains right now. Lots of women basically deciding en masse, how much they want to take. And a lot of confused men who've never developed their empathy, wondering how they navigate this landscape. As long as we keep our wits about is, we'll be fine.

I really begin to wonder what the line is between good behavior and off-limits.

I can understand both sides. And it's not going to be easy.

But none of this changes the fundamental nature of "game." The most common advice I give here usually boils down to some form of "pay attention". Paying attention allows one to know how to calibrate, and knowing how to calibrate is how one knows when what something they're doing is welcome or not.

Which is how one avoids messes like Weinstein is in now.

The thing with him and others like him is, they AREN'T like us. Those guys have apparently done some predatory, foul shit, for decades in some cases. And often a lot of cover-up has been involved. And they have distinctly NOT cared to read others and their emotions at ALL. They have cared nothing for the emotional states of people around them. All they have cared about is what they wanted.

Most of the concerns I've heard people voice in Seddit about this issue, is on the order of, "How do I know what's acceptable?"

As if most guys in here are thinking about jerking off into plants, blackmailing and smearing people who try to uncover what you've done (as Weinstein has done), or groping underage boys (Spacey), etc.

Most of you are concerned with knowing when to kiss a girl or how to escalate. And to that, the advice remains the same. You must PAY ATTENTION. You must get out of your head and push your focus into the world around you. Look at faces. Look at what's going on around you. Be aware.

A tough topic and one that I’m not sure is apropriate for the forum.

Some of these are bound to be true. I know Kevin Spacey & I think Franken admit to theirs. Some of these are bound to be cut throat politics, but we should investigate to be sure.

What does all of this means for us? Be careful and respectful of boundaries. If you are in a borderline situation (i.e. girl is a little too tipsy) then put her to bed politely and go sleep on the couch/go home. Getting your dick wet is not worth a girl ruining your life.

I don’t think these allegations mean much for the average man. Hollywood has a long history of being a cesspool behind the scenes. There is a bit of truth behind the blowjob on the casting couch meme.

Overall I tend to look at this as the market correcting itself more than a trend. Women (and some young men/boys) are starting to see what they are worth in Holywood and they aren’t putting up with blatant exploitation. Hopefully we don’t over-correct and start witch hunting where assault doesn’t actually exist, but for now this needed to happen.

No. That means by me being confident enough to talk to her, the odds are in my favor. Less competion. So yes, stay away.

What the fuck are you goin on about? The news stuff is all about shit that happened to people they WORKED WITH, in hollywood, offices, movies, etc. Are you daft? Not one of them was about a guy who flirted with a stranger in a bar. It was either co-workers, or celebs, or people and the hired help.

If it's not your coworker or not your boss or not someone you are paying for services, and you don't whip your dick out, you are fine.

Feel free to be a pussy an be afraid to talk because you read about a bunch of hollywood/media execs who harrassed their coworkers.

Everyone in this sub, and men in general, are becoming a bunch of pussies. You aren't scared to talk to girls because of the news, you are scared to talk to girls because you are scared. And the news is being used to justify it to yourself.

Grow some fucking balls. Or not. Because that just makes it easier for guys like me who aren't afraid.
