Hey Seddit, lady college student reporting in.

I deal with awful AA on a daily basis. Rarely can I converse and interact with socially accepted norms and behavior. I'm a nervous wreck and self conscious as fuck. Last night, I decided that today would be the last day I would fall victim to approach anxiety. Enough is enough. So I promised myself I would approach and meet new people today in class.

My first class at 10, everyone was waiting outside the lecture hall. I was looking around for people to open, but it seemed like everyone I looked at was trying their best to avoid eye contact. So I gave up. Any thoughts on conquering this situation? It tends to be the norm. The early birds waiting outside the classroom eyes shifting back and forth to avoid eye contact like a plague.

In class, I started talking to the guy beside me. He was a freshman and was very unresponsive to my attempt at small talk. Perhaps he was shy or overwhelmed by the lecture, who knows.

Me: Would you mind watching my things for a moment?

Freshman: (stares for 5 seconds before nodding)

I leave for a minute and return

Me: Hey, thank you.

Freshman: (stares blankly)

Me: How's your day going?

Freshman: I don't know, good.

Me: That's cool. (I had no idea what to say) ... So, are you in this program?

Freshman: No, I'm in blahblah program

Me: That's exciting. Did you have a good summer?

Freshman: It was ok.

aaaaaaaaaaand there was a bit more, but mostly dull small talk. this was the most painful, one-sided (doesn't even count) conversation I've ever had. When the lecture ended, he took off as fast as he could without saying bye.

My thoughts: I don't know, I was psyched at first to kick some AA ass, but this bummed me out. A lot. It was scary and exhausting, I guess because I'm not used to conversing. He was so unresponsive to fluff and my brain was overdriven, and I couldn't build comfort. And as more and more time passed, I was falling into the "permission girl" zone. Not cool. What could I have said/done instead? Or was he just a hopelessly terrible conversationalist?

MY SECOND CLASS.

Sat beside HG6, noticed he was constantly looking at me from the corner of his eye. So I struck up a conversation.

Me: What do you think of the class so far?

HG6: It's okay, but I'd have to wait until the end of the lecture to know for sure.

Me: Makes sense. Is this your last class of the day?

HG6: Yes.

Me: Lucky you. I'm here until the evening.

HG6: Yeah, my schedule is blabh blahblahblahblah (tells me about his life schedule/routine for the semester)

Me: Ooh, that's cool.

We ended up talking about part time jobs, our programs, and mostly school related topics.

He seemed to be a bit socially awkward. Also, he kept blurting things out and interrupting me untimely, but I'd let him talk. I eventually got bored and zoned out. Anything to improve here?

These guys were as beta as beta can get. I can't talk to betas and my spine turns to jelly when I see alphas. I think if I were to ever (attempt) open an alpha male, I would shit myself and wet my panties. The day I can flawlessly open an alpha male/AMOG, that'll be the day.

On the bright side, I name closed HG6. No # closes, or any other approaches though.

Not much of a real badass FR (and I really had no clue what I was doing), but it was my first step. A tiny step, but I couldn't have done it without your help, seddit. Thank you :)

Throughout the day, I thought of countless approach scenarios. All in my head, and I was pumped to make them a reality, but as I walked into the cafeteria and class, I would freeze up and forget all the mental preparation I just put myself through. The shell is hard to break out of. I would appreciate any tips/advice on how to improve, constructive criticism, any openers or interesting lines/topics.
