Understanding Neediness.
There have been a number of discussions on the forums in recent weeks on the subject of neediness. In my book, I formulate a theory that defines non-neediness as the source of all attractive behavior in men. Unfortunately, I think some readers (judging by the threads on the board) are making one of two mistakes: 1) misunderstanding what non-neediness is and how to attain it and 2) trying to use it as yet another measuring stick for success (i.e., treating it as yet another “magic pill” for their problems — I will get into the ironies of this in a minute).
In Models, I define neediness within romantic and social relationships as prioritizing another person’s perception of you over your perception of yourself, and that this prioritization leads to all unattractive behavior in men, whether directly or indirectly. So, when talking to an attractive woman, a needy man will expend his effort trying to piece together what her perception of him is and cater his behavior to what he thinks she wants, whereas a non-needy man will focus on what his perception of her is. If she thinks poorly of him, it will only affect him as much as he perceives her opinion as being valuable.
There are two ways in which men can become needy: by undervaluing themselves or by overvaluing the person with whom they’re interacting.

The important thing is to expect nothing in return.
In case she has rejected you and you still see her in real-life, tell her that she looks really hot today, but don't look at her to see if she likes your compliment, don't expect anything. Just drop it in the conversations, maybe whisper it in her ear, and move on with the conversation.
If she has rejected you but you don't see her normally, there are some text that you can send such as: "Just walked up to someone in the city that looked like you, jumped in front of her and shouted hello! It wasn't you, embarassinggg...". Again as here, you're not asking for anything, don't expect anything in return. If you see a hot facebook photo of her, write her that she looks super hot in that facebook photo. But write just that and nothing else, don't ask her how she is doing in the next message. You are only allowed to do so, if she writes you back.
At all times, joke with her, tease her (very important), make it clear to her that you would f*** her brains out at anytime, but don't ever be angry, because that's neediness.
Hope that helped.

So I'm guessing the big takeaway here is removing outcome dependence?
[–]Endoss 23 points24 points25 points 12 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
The things you're suggestion sound really cringey.
If a chick doesn't want to bang you, you remove her from her life for the most part.
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
That sounds very PUA-y and doesn't give you any chance on long term game. It's all about time investment, right. If you see that girl and you talk to her anyway, because you have the same friends, then it doesn't take you any effort to tell her that she looks super sexy today.
Also, if you really like a girl a lot it is worth pursing her more than other and they sometimes need to be gamed a little longer. That's where this strategy comes handy.
The art is to build up a circle of 20 girls around you, who know you like them, so that at anytime you always have a beautiful girl to be with.
Then, when you like a girl a lot, that's where you gotta strike and make her your woman.
[–]TheHeadHunterr 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Dude, I think You're only half right.
Yes create a social circle of 20 women around you but do not waste your time with flakey hos. I give them 2 chances and after that, I'm done.
We have limited resources, don't waste time, effort or brain power on women that aren't worth it... and surprise, none of them are worth the chase. Because there are 100 other girls where that 1 came from that WILL be receptive.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
But if there isn't even 1 that is worth it, then the whole thing is pointless?
My example is that I have two girls that I really, really like. We also made out briefly, but then circumstances didn't allow it to work out.
They now have boyfriends, but I always write them every now and then, always managing to steer the conversation back to how her boobs were awesome when I grabbed them and how I managed to take a peek at their nipple, when we made out. :)
I'm also doing this, because it's great training for me to learn how to do long term game and it is just FUN. That should be the most important thing and at one point, when they break up with their boyfriend, they will want to get with me so bad. :)
[–]TheHeadHunterr 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Oh goody! After some guy's unloaded a dumptruck full of cum into them & left them on the side of the road, then you get your shot, awesome!
Not being a prick, do whatever makes you happy. I just don't waste a second of time chasing unavailable girls but that's just me.
[–]Endoss 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
That line of thinking is straight up delusional. You're just giving them sexual attention and receiving nothing back. You're giving value to them for no reason, they have a boyfriend, they know they're hot.
They're not going to "want to get with you so bad" just because you told them how much you love their tits when they're in a relationship. They're going to use you for attention and then you're not likely to escalate to further than where you were without the help of alcohol.
Your behavior describes a beta orbiter. Why are you so hung up on these two girls that you really really like? Obviously they don't like you enough to bang your brains out, so it wasn't meant to be. You shouldn't try to be gaming girls in relationships in the hopes that when they break up with their boyfriend they'll get with you. That's literally the definition of oneitis, you're just going about it in a different way.
Go meet new women.
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Well, it has always worked out so far and the one of the two I did it with is now my FWB. The other one still has a boyfriend, but she is studying abroad anyway, so...
Pursuing this strategy gives me really awesome lady friends, who always like having me around, introduce me to their girls, want to join me on threesomes. I don't know what more a man would want. :D

[–]Endoss 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I don't want to fuck girls that I've been rejected by, which is the underlying intent behind these actions.
[–]Coz7 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I think neediness is more about inner game. Forget if you come off as needy or not, worry about BEING needy. That is, don't be needy, make your emotions independent on the outcome, or you risk depression.
What you want to know is when to stop hitting on a girl; from my experience, you need to look for cues, if she tells or acts like she wants you to stop but does not gives you cues that you should stop, then don't. For example, if you're touching her and she laughs, says 'stop' but doesn't do any physical action like moving herself or you away from her, and keeps laughing she doesn't wants you to stop; same goes in the case where she just ignores your actions, just keep going until she gives a clear stop signal. Sadly, girls give ambiguous message on purpose.
When you get the slightest cue that she really wants you to stop, just stop. You'll just hurt your changes by pushing that route.
Specificly for flakes, if they do want to meet you, they'll suggest new plans the moment they flake. If she just flakes, she just isn't motivated enough. If she, instead, flakes and tells you that she'll be busy for the next two weeks or something, that means she really doesn't wants to. Of course this is not black and white, more like a rule of thumb.
About being a nice guy, there's no reason you can't be nice while not being a push over. A push over is someone that lets others take advantage of him. People tease you, or take advantage of you, and you do not react to that, then you're being a push over. For example, if you are doing something, maybe reading in your room, and someone needs help, so you stop doing what you're doing to help, yet when the roles are reversed the other person does not do the same for you, you're being screwed.
That being said, the thing about being nice is that, you're putting yourself in a specific position, for free. You're saying "I'm the guy that can help you do X thing", and if you're that guy, it's easier for her to have someone else be the guy she fucks. After all, if shit hits the fan after you two fuck, who's going to help her? and she could just go with a guy who has high value (but you have low value because you give yourself away for free, economics 101, demand and offer ) gets her panties wet, because that's how she knows that's a great guy to be fucked by.
So you can be nice. I like being nice too; but know that the moment you give yourself away for free, your value goes to the floor, and her vagina will be as dry as the sahara. It's sad, but true. So it's an exclusive choice.
[–]Corrsta2 points 12 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link
I agree with mostly everything you said, but I don't understand this... How is hooking up with a girl and helping her out mutually exclusive? Don't boyfriends and husbands fill both of those roles?
[–]Coz7 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
The problem is not between hooking up and helping, they are not mutually exclusive; the problem is in the way it happens. The problem is giving your help for free. Girls can get hookups anywhere, so why would having a hookup with a random guy have any value to her? that's what she offers. If a bunch of nice guys are willing to help her, yet she only needs the help of one, that help will also be devalued. This happens more often than you'd think.
As a boyfriend or husband, there's a pre-established agreement. There's stuff that she wants and stuff he wants, and she's willing to give him what he wants in exchange for what she wants, and both know this, and know what the other wants. She's not getting freebies, she has to hold her part of the bargain too.
Being nice in the way you describe, means that she can get your help without the investment of a relationship, so she doesn't even has to figure out if what you offer is worth giving back whatever she has to offer.
You could show her that there are things besides your niceness that you can offer to her; for example, if you were ridiculously good looking, and nice, she would still chase you, because you being nice doesn't means she gets to have a sexual or emotional connection with someone as good looking as you.
However, giving freebies alter her perception of worthyness. The more expensive something is, the higher value it will appear to have. So if you are good looking, but not nice in general, you'll look like you have higher value than someone who is equally good looking, but nice. This is a fallacy, in fact, most likely the nicer person has higher value, but that's not how she perceives it. She'll actually think the other guy is better looking, even if you two are twins!
This is because most things in life are better when they cost more, many objects, overcomming difficulties, low offer and high demand, etc. People learn to associate difficulty with value, but it's still a fallacy to think everything is like that because many cheap, or cheaper versions of expensive things are actually better. But that's not how it usually is.
However, if you seem to have too high of a value, she might think nothing she does will get you, so why even try? this whole value thing is just one piece in the puzzle, there are many more factors.
Dude, just try to pretend you're the last coke in the desert. It works with guys as well. You might be surprised at the results.
[–]catgloves 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
In short, I think neediness is trying to appeal to someone else while persistence is doing something for yourself. Its a different mindset and a different attitude about how you handle yourself.
[–]Northernwinter 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Mindset. If you feel like it's needy, or you're worried about it being construed as needy, then it is needy.
[–]leitey 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Let me clarify this. Flaking is rude. If you make plans for a date, you need to keep them. If an emergency arises, and you need to cancel, you make it up to the person. Ultimately, it is up to you to determine how you are treated. So she flakes, you deserve to be treated better, you walk away. That said, you don't burn bridges. You can still shoot her a message when you are going out with your friends, or something where it doesn't matter if she shows up or not. You are staying on her radar, planting that seed. Maybe she'll come out sometime, and you can show her how awesome and fun you are, or maybe she'll bring a cute friend and you can work on that. She flaked on you, so don't deal with that, let her come to you, or just be a friend.
[–]puaCurveBall -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Neediness comes from investment, and caring about the outcome.
You can be persistent without caring about the outcome.
For instance, lets say some coworker owes you $1. You can pester him day after day, asking "Hey, where is my dollar". And you still don't care about the dollar. If he tells you he isn't actually paying, then its over.
Same thing with women.
Regarding being yourself, it is all attitude. If she wants a favor, fuck with her a bit of push/pull, and then let it clear you are doing it for whatever reason.
Also... "testament to your character" is ego bullshit, imho. bad thinking.
[–]Corrsta5 points 12 years ago [recovered] (6 children) | Copy Link
An aspect of my character is to do the right thing. Helping someone I care about is a testament to that... How is that "ego bullshit"?
[–]Kingbarbarossa -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Because it's something that makes you "better" than other people. Ergo Ego
[–]puaCurveBall -2 points-1 points0 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Read up on ego, I don't think you understand the terminology.
[–]Corrsta1 points 12 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link
How about we start by explaining what it is you're implying? Then we can figure out who doesn't understand the terminology...
[–]puaCurveBall -3 points-2 points-1 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Then we can figure out who doesn't understand the terminology
you are too worried about being attacked and wanting to defend yourself and turn this into an argument to listen. (ego)
Like I said, do some reading :) Kingbarbarossa understands

Actually, I've seen several posts asking similar things, trying to figure out how two pieces of contradictory advice can coexist. Often one of these things is nowhere to be found among respected pua advice.
Learning to think about where you are getting advice from is extremely helpful.

You're really just caught up in the lingo here.
What you want to be is relentless and unwilling to take no for an answer, if that's helpful at all.
If a girl isn't answering your calls, you basically have nothing to lose as you have already "lost" her. Might as well do anything you can to maximize outcome at that point.
[–]ARealSocialIdiot 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Might as well do anything you can to maximize outcome at that point.
Dear God, no. A PUA should never have a situation where he feels the need to "go for broke" or throw a Hail Mary. If it's gotten to that point, he's failed on numerous levels.
Ideally, you should be able to tell when things have transitioned from a "there's still a possibility and I'm interested enough to bother trying" situation and a "I'm spinning my wheels and not getting anywhere, and I'm now throwing a bunch of stuff at the wall to see what sticks" situation. Don't let it get to the latter point, ever.
What's the dividing line? Well, your ability to perceive the nuances will come with time and experience. But the primary thing is the amount of effort you're putting into it and what you're getting for that level of effort. If you're putting in effort trying to get a date or sending text messages or calling a girl, and you're getting nothing back from her, you should be able to know that you're wasting your time and effort. Don't let that happen to you.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I agree that Hail Mary situations are very dangerous.
It's one thing if you're on a trip, in a strange town for one night, then it's OK to maybe think this way. In your own hometown when you have options, I agree that it's perilous at best.
[–]ItsNotAScam -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Your definition of a dividing line is subjective and unclear in my opinion, and would be determined by social conditioning for most people. I have digested enough PUA material (audiotapes and written material, particularly that by RSD) to know that letting behavior be dictated by social conditioning is dangerous and counterproductive.
Of course if she's really uninterested then I agree, move on. But that's subjective.
[–]ARealSocialIdiot -2 points-1 points0 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Everything is subjective. You're supposed to be using, y'know, good judgment. But one thing that isn't subjective is this: if you ever have the opinion that you should "do anything you can," you're over the line.
[–]ItsNotAScam 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
That's not what I've read.
[–]ARealSocialIdiot -2 points-1 points0 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Look at it logically. By the time you ever think of doing last-ditch things like "well there has to be something I can do," you've already lost all control over the situation and you're just scrabbling to get out of the pit you've dug yourself into. If you've got abundance mentality going for yourself, you should never let yourself get so caught up on one girl that you would work that hard for so little return. What's the point, when you can go find a new girl (or several) that you wouldn't have to work so hard for?
[–]ItsNotAScam -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes I agree. But the marginal cost on trying just A LITTLE harder in a situation that's already blown is very low.
And there is so much PUA material written on recovering blown situations that it's not even funny. I would just recommend using those tactics.
Play your own game. I'm just expressing what I know and what I've read.
[–]appl3blim 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
That sounds very 'rapey' to me.
I would say use your common sense. I think you can be in one of 3 positions. 1) Definately rejected 2) On the fence 3) She's interested. If she's either 2 or 3 be persistent. If you're in 1), leave it and stop being a stalker. It's more about analysing your position than anything else.
[–]ItsNotAScam -3 points-2 points-1 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Your criteria for "definitely rejected" lacks specificity. But yes, if you are "definitely rejected" you should move on. There are literally thousands of targets at your disposal, why use resources of time and effort inefficiently?
[–]appl3blim 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
In general if a girl isn't answering my calls I consider it a rejection; having said that there are senarios which I would place myself in 2) or 3) whereas with a different girl i'd consider it as a definate rejection. Depends on the situation.
