I just open with something direct and to the point like "You're kinda cute, why haven't we met yet?". Online game is still pretty sketchy because girls rate themselves much higher online because of the amount of validation they get from seedy dudes. Hard to get consistent replies so just cast your net wide and check occasionally.

I've been using OKC for the last six months now, to a decent amount of success (6 f-closes and working on a 7th). I have probably messaged over 100 different girls, and gone on maybe 15-20 first dates. I'd say all the girls have been solid HB7s or HB8s. That being said, my actual message to f-close ratio is fairly low, but given the ease of actually messaging someone, I consider it to be a great supplement to approaching IRL.

My openings all vary vastly. It entirely depends on what they have in their profile. Sometimes there is very little to go on, or they may have written a lot that doesn't actually give you something to message about. However, my "average opener" starts with a statement about something in their profile, followed by some way I can relate to it/an example of my own. The second part is a question, hopefully open-ended that isn't just a yes or no question. This is the essential part, as they need something to answer/spark a conversation.

Oh, and a little trick I have learned that is excellent for restarting convo's that may have gone cold... A lot of times, they will stop messaging me back right in the middle of the conversation (although I have learned to keep the conversation to only a few messages apiece before I actually suggest we meet up/exchange numbers). The convo may go dead for any number of reasons, but more often than not, the convo is simply buried by other convos or messages they are getting. Not to worry! The key is to not get frustrated or desperate; if you realize you have sent more than two messages in a row without hearing back, don't send a third for at least a day or so. Wait a while, then simply send the message "I'm insert real first name here, by the way. What's your name?" Obviously, I hold back on giving them my real first name the entire convo for this exact reason. It's a perfect way to jog their memory and restart the convo again without seeming desperate. Most of the time, they will reply back with their name and "oh so sorry I think I just lost track of the convo" or something.

Also, I only message girls when they are online. If you are browsing and see a girl you like but she isn't online, save her to your favorites, and message her net time she comes online. Same thing with the memory jog trick. Only works if they are online.

My best luck has been either to just blow a little wit based on something on her profile, or barring that, open with a little self-deprication, segueing right into a conversation opener.

"So this is the part where I'm supposed to shoot you a witty quip, or tell you a story to make you want to talk to me.. but honestly? an example (THis lead to a.. far too long conversation about the creation of a world conquering squid army, but also 4 dates and an f-close) (her username was Burrowingsquid or some shit, thus the joke)

So, this is the part where i'm supposed to tell a story, or toss out a witty quip about league to show we do the same things and should be friends! but given that it's 4 am, wit quota for the day has been reached; I'm going to ask a much more important question.

How in the fuck does a squid burrow. That's terrifying, the thought of just walking across a beach and suddenly BAM, CEPHALOPOD PULLING YOU INTO HIS SAND TRAP.

The theory is

A.) You're displaying you took the time to at least read her profile, and are interested in talking to her, if nothing else.

B.) By avoiding the witty opener, you avoid falling into the trap of coming off as trying to impress her from the open (and also avoid coming off as needy, at most you are just "you seem cool, lets talk.")

C.) Lets you segue into a conversation without having to do the awkward ".. heh nice to meet you" exchange

Overall? according to the various online dating subreddits, my profiles are shit (I make jokes throughout, sometimes awkward, stupid jokes (my okc profile has a running joke about how I may or may not secretly be a giraffe in disguise) -- apparently "it comes off as childish and desperate" but.. that's.. my sense of humor, what's the point in making a profile that doesn't show of who I am, yeh?)

My pictures also suck, according to them -- but I have a 2/3 response rate using the above tactic. That said my close rate is abysmal, but that's more my fault, I try and at least have a small conversation with them (~5-10 messages) before trying to close, figure I'm a complete stranger that's literally walking up to them and asking them out with no preface, least I can do is try is let them know I'm not a psycho with a little opening conversation before asking to meet. -- apparently that's wrong.

Since its all about numbers, whatever you do, keep this in mind: have a customized part and a cut and paste part. Shows you skimmed her profile, save time with the cut and paste.

Both of the previous suggestions are ridiculous. Just fucking say hey. Women don't want some long drawn out and obviously trying too hard approach. They just want normal.
