You've probably never asked yourself this question unless you were a dog trainer: How do you know which dog in a pack is the alpha without taking the time to watch the behavior of the animals?

The easy answer is a simple playground activity: the staring contest.

My mom is terrible when it comes to training her 10 lb. Maltese. She'll let the dog jump all over her, lick all over her face and the dog has my mom trained to play fetch with her whenever the dog wants. Sometimes when I visit my mom, just for fun, I'll have a staring contest with the dog. This dog would rather die than lose this staring contest; it will gaze for hours! She knows that she is the alpha in the house and any dog trainer worth his salt will tell you that you must break a pet's alpha mentality to properly train them.

The same applies to the art of seduction. When you make eye contact with a girl, you might not want to project that you are creepy, so you divert your eyes and look like you were interested in something else. It happens all the time; I know I do it subconsciously. What this does is project that the girl has made you feel uncomfortable enough to shy away from her. Uncomfortable and shy is definitely NOT Alpha. The idea is for her to see you as the exact opposite, i.e., confident and outgoing.

Maintaining eye contact and giving a genuine smile (maybe a small nod) conveys that confidence you are looking for. The goal is to get her to smile back and divert her eyes, just as a trained dog would do (please don't be offended by the comparison). One she has broken eye contact, you can break eye contact as well, but I guarantee that every time you look over at her, she'll keep looking back at you, which is a clear IOI.

So, try this out: sitting in traffic and a cute girl pulls up next to you, maintain eye contact and smile until she breaks it. Same thing out in the club/bar. Give it a shot and I guarantee it will make you feel Alpha as hell (if you're doing it wrong, you'll feel creepy).
