Question: How do you answer when a girl asks, "why don't you have a girlfriend?"

I got asked this on Saturday night. My response was, "I'm shy around women, I lack the confidence to approach them and talk to them". This was said with a sly grin on my face after, and 5 minutes after I'd just confidently approached her in a club.

"Because I'm a train wreck" - I say it in a way where I have intentionally put the ball back in her court and I always get a little smirk on my face because I have purposefully left a silence and I know her brain it churning coming up with what to say next, and this conveys to her! It builds sexual tension in the conversation, and if the girl is any good at picking up on that, will come back with a question asking me about my messed up life, but in a way where it builds on the sexual tension I've just put down. We both know we are joking, but talking in a mock serious fashion seeing how far we can take it if that makes any sense. If the girl doesn't go along with this, it is still a power move because you have sluffed off her question and placed the ball back in her court showing you are comfortable leaving it there. You could also do the same thing with any answer that conveys you don't give a fuck enough to try and impress her.

Whoah... you're thinking about it way too much man! Just loosen up and have a good time. It matters less what you say and more how you say it. What you said wasn't bad. Sure it's not witty or particularly playful, but if you had a bit of a smirk/wry smile with some bedroom eyes I'm sure it would have been fine.

Now the real question here is what's the deal with a 4th date - have you closed that yet? This isn't oneitis is it?
