Your example is a "shit test" but actually you have to make a joke out of it or give an exaggerated answer (sometimes you can ignore it).

For me it is more about if the girl is attracted to you on some level or not. This "eww your such a player I saw you talking to other girls" can be used as a reason to reject you and in this case even if you have the most interesting answer in the world, if she doesn't like you she won't be impressed, you can't change her mind.

If you see 2 parts in it, then it has 2 parts. I don't know how you count it.

part 1 - "ew your such a player I saw you talking to other girls"

part 2- your answer. Which can also be in two ways:

- oh, no, it wasn't me... or... "no, I just asked a question" - weak frame (not recommended)

- a funny exaggerated answer: "I think there are 2 more girls in this room and I've talked to all of them." or "yes I talk but only with cute girls... who wear [described her clothes]" - playful/strong frame (a better answer)

Girl-why do you go to the gym so much it seems like you're obsessed!

- (if she is just a girl you met) assume it's just another "shit test", make it fun, don't take it seriously as I said above

- (if she is your gf/wife) she already knows that you like going to the gym, but she mentioned this because it looks like there is a problem between you and her and she is indirectly trying to tell about her problem. It is better to talk to her until you find out what the real problem is.

Every frame is a power frame expressed in different ways. Basically holding your frame is saying « I’m unapologetically myself and no one can change that or damage the love I have for myself ».

In your gym eg. you're qualifying. These are shittest and we all know how to deal with them. Ignore, admit or exaggerate to start with.

I would advise to read between the lines and look at whole interaction in a deeper context. It should not be really about maintaining control, but escalating within proper moments. Girl says these words not to pull in other direction, but for you to make something out of it. It's an opportunity to show your interpersonal skills and your mindset. In your gym example, covered fact is that she noticed you train your body a lot in a gym. But instead of direct compliment, she can pass this information in more playful and vague way. You can then go with "Thanks, I do my best to maintain my title of a sex machine".
